JB belongs with the greats like Stravinsky and Cage. He created a genre of music that wasn't there before. He's influenced more than just Prince and Michael Jackson. He's influenced all of pop music from the chicken scratch guitar and staccato horns to the stuttering, boogaloo drum beat so prevalent in any form of dance music be it rock, country or r&b.

My favorites are Cold Sweat and Papa Don't Take no Mess.

My band plays Cold Sweat all the time.

I saw an interview with JB, and he critizcized Motown for turning down the bass to make the music more digestible to some people. The he goes on about how the bass is the heartbeat of the music, etc. Just awesome.

"King Herion" is a wonderful song, Herion is one drug you should never, ever experiment with.

It has killed legends, destroyed lives, made people cry, it is the devil's drug.

My band covers Soul Power, Cold Sweat, Man's World (female singer), and I Got You

I don't really know of a James Brown song I don't like.

Try Me is amazingly doo wop vs something like Papa Don't Take No Mess or The Payback

Got anything we can hear?

Funk is really the least appreciated music genre out there. I blame Pfunk but whatever. Hell is an album everyone should own. My Thang and Papa might be two of the best songs in a storied career.
