He was the ultimate performer. High octane from the start to finish of his performance! My Daughter saw him perform and said he out paced some of the other guys who were 40 years younger then him up on the stage!

James Brown was doing the moonwalk 20 years before Michael Jackson popularized it. Nearly all Michael Jackson's dance steps were copies of James Brown's moves.

Same with Prince. Though Prince isn't known for his dance moves, but he was stealing from the godfather himself.

Has anyone ever seen the video on Youtube of a young Michael Jackson and Prince battling each other at James Brown concert? Funny stuff.

James Brown is an absolute legend, he has inspired so many people, especially Bruno Mars... He was not only a great singer but also an amazing performer!

lol They were not battling eachother.

They both attended James Brown concert and James Brown asked Michael to come on stage and sing a couple of lines.

MJ came up there and tore the house down with the vocals and the dance moves..

THEN, MJ whispered in James Brown ear insisting that Prince come on stage.

I love Prince I really do... but Prince was high as hell here... he played the guitar (very well) but he got ratchet towards the end and James Brown escorted him off stage LOL He was tearing the stage up..

I saw Mr Brown at the Good Vibrations Festival in Sydney in 2006. It was my first festival where I experimented with all sorts of candy... and to think that he was headlining... made it a very special experience. He of course died about 9 months later.... but when I saw him you wouldnt have noticed it. He performed all the James Brown signature moves including swing the micophone stand down toward the crown then flipping it back up towards his mouth using the cord, announcing loudly he 'can't go on, I can't go on' and getting his MC to come up with the green blanket, putting it over his shoulders and walking him towards the side of the stage before springing out of his cradle and back into 'Get Up Off That Thing'.... getting tingles just typing and recounting it... what a great show.. and showman...

I'm still deciding if that YouTube video of him... in that late 80s interview after he allegedly hurt his wife??... is a very bad embarrassing thing to show to generations yet to be born, or the most wonderful great thing - you tell me.

But dammnet, what a champion.
