Michael has publicly claimed that he never invented the moonwalk and neither did James Brown.

James Brown moves were not the ONLY moves Michael did. Michael clearly innovated his own signature style although he was influenced by James Brown as well.

Hello everyone! For those who have seen JB,s "LIVE IN BOSTON GARDENS" 1968 concert on dvd, there is a new EXTENDED version coming out in Dec. 2014. It includes performances by Bobby Byrd (4 songs including a duet w/JB), Marva Whitney, and a classic comedy standup by emcee/band member Maceo Parker. I,ve had bootleg versions of this show that showed some of the supporting entertainers and thought that the complete footage was lost forever. This version will be over 2hrs long and available at SHOUT FACTORY.COM. I have got to have this!

Watch this rare video on Youtube about a rally at Tougaloo College in 1966. A historic event with Martin Luther King, Dick Gregory, Stokely Carmichael, Medgar Evers, etc. Standout performances featuring Sammy Davis Jr, and the amazing James Brown!

I have seen a small snippet of this rally but never knew this footage existed! A few white actors and entertainers appeared also; Burt Lancaster, Marlon Brando, Tony Francisosa and others. They came to support black people and equality for the races.

This footage should be digitally remastered and shown to the masses as it it a very important highlight of the civil rights movement! Go to Youtube and enter HISTORIC 1966 THROWBACK.

James Brown was a monster entertainer! There will never be another James Brown and I know that people make fun of him, such as posting the video of his drunk interview.

But check out his various contributions to soul music and black causes such as the after-mentioned concert and freedom rally above. He was nowhere near a perfect man and he made many mistakes, but they should not overshadow his many business and charitable contributions.

Performing in Vietnam 1968, Boston Gardens concert(same year), Black & Brown trading stamps, 3-4 records on the charts at the same time, his own private lear jet, meeting with various presidents, etc.

There are also many people along the way who help make James Brown, "JAMES BROWN"! The various bands and leaders ( Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley, etc.,) Ben Bart (manager), Alan Leeds (tour manager), Sid Nathan ( King Records), Bobby Byrd ("discovered" JB) and many, many others over the years.

Most importantly, he had the will and determination to do what he did night after night on stage and in business. So while people are laughing at his latter imperfections, they should also check out what this man accomplished in the music world!

I like the early James Brown a lot. Live at the Apollo is one of those must listen records.

Like him or not, the man was an Icon. I digged me some James Brown.

I can't think of James Brown anymore without thinking of Eddy Murphy's "Delirious" skit.

James brown rare concert

I have quite a bit of rare JB concert footage. There was concert footage of JB at the Apollo Theatre that was destroyed in his warehouse along with priceless memorabilia before he died. Does anyone know what year or anything else about the footage? Any info on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
