Omg, I forgot how much ****ing fun Birtha is. Snotty female vox, first wave metal guitar licks, girl group soul harmonies, fat bass grooves, funky-ass drum breaks. It's like everything good about the early seventies got poured into one album and I love it. By far the best two bucks I ever dropped at a record store.

Have you all seen the movie soul? They incorporated so much great music. In general I would suggest anything Stevie wonder. Or Marvin Gaye!

Checking out this new 24 hr music channel out of Brooklyn that features live soul music. Not bad.

You should check Electro Deluxe. You can find them from spotify. It is also from France. I know it doesn't sound like a Soul band, but they have a lot of Soul songs. They also have funk songs and some jazzy songs. Actually one of their most soulful song called "Where is the love" is one where Ben L'oncle Soul is featuring.

Check this out. Psychedelic jazz soul that somehow combines radical socialist politics with fire and brimstone Christianity, according to legend it got shelved by Atlantic Records because Spiro Agnew gave them a phone call saying it would start riots.
