Default Baby Huey

Formally James Ramey. A huge man with a heroin and alcohol problem. An amazing voice. A few releases with his band, The Babysitters, that did well locally but failed to chart. One album as a solo artist, produced by Curtis Mayfield. Story goes, the vocals were recorded in the studio before Huey died. The music, performed by Curtis's backing band, was added after. Like Nick Drake and many others, he became well known after his death and the release of the album. He's been sampled many times and the song "Hard Times" is a ****in masterpiece.

Get this album.

I'm familiar with the name, and anything released on the Curtom label has got to be of some merit. How is it with his vocals, I've read somewhere he is slightly off-key at times? Not that it matters to me, if the material makes up for it.
