P-Funk is cool i just cant get into their sound, they are probably the funkiest band ive ever heard though

I like the Dayton, OH sound of funk best: Ohio Players, Slave, Sun, etc..

Lakeside, Heatwave, Roger Troutman & Zapp. The Dayton Ohio area was like the capital of funk during that particular era.
Bootsy Collins is from Cincinnati Ohio.

Go For Your Guns is one of my favorite P Funk style albums from that particular era. Ernie Isley is just awesome on the distortion fuzz metal guitar. Kind of a dirty and.raunchy style of funk.
Of course Rick James was one of the best in that category as well.
