Have you found the track yet, Spanksen?
Sounds like something Larry Graham and Graham Central Station could have done, or perhaps Stevie Wonder but probably you already eliminated those. Hope you're getting close! |

Could definitely be something Larry Graham / Graham Central Station has done.. or the Bar Kays....it sounds like a Bar Kays song to me.....(not Holy Ghost though)

Holy Ghost by the Bar Kays is close but I don't think that's the one.
Some lesser known gritty Blaxploitation movie may have used it on the B side. (Not to knock the B side, I usually prefer B side tracks, but the track in question is probably less well known than A side). You could always try asking Jamiroquai's Matt Johnson perhaps.
