they are played in the movies, but other songs are as well. The weren't made specifically for them, if that's what you mean.

I'm curious about the Death Proof soundtrack. I'm currently listening to it, particularlly Chick Habit by April March. Before my library got this soundtrack for me I had the credits for the movie on A-B repeat for at least an hour, so I'm pretty familiar with it. When I listened to it on this CD I was disappointed that the song has been edited down from aprox. three minutes and forty-four seconds to a little over two minutes. I looked for the original album on allmusic.com and found that it's also only a bit over 2:00. Now, I know that that site can be wrong, it listed Jessica by the Allman Brothers as much shorter than the actual song is, so...

I was wondering if any of you know anything about this. The last minute or more of the song in the credits the singer was singing in a different language, and that's what is missing from the soundtrack.

Was listening to the Go soundtrack last night as I drove around. Its so perfect for night driving...just alot of up-beat poppy techno, with a few slower songs mixed in.

Best soundtrack ever for me is Hackers though, if we're talking about a group of misc. artists put together just for the movie. Just an unbelievable amount of classic techno songs all on one cd.

For pure musicals, its probably a tie between The Sound of Music and Moulin Rouge.

Been into this one a lot lately after watching only half of the film. Come on Boris and Earth with Bill Frisell? Brilliant shit.

Also, I've mentioned these a lot, too:

My Top 3

Superfly - One of the greatest albums, let alone soundtrack. Curtis Mayfield is a ****ing genius.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show -
Greatest musical ever!

Pulp Fiction - Obvious choice but can't deny its impact on the movie.

Oh god, great call. Can't believe I forgot that one. ><

Edit: Also, the soundtrack for the Noir anime series is some of the most amazing music I've ever heard...both discs. Donno how many anime fans are on here, but theres some seriously amazing OST's for quite a few of those shows. Really enjoy them.

Donnie Darko (who doesn't love the 80's) and Almost Famous are great choices. I always thought Garden State was overrated movie and music.

i'm a big fan of April March and i have all her stuff, so here's what i know. Chick Habit shows up 5 times in her discography. the song is found on both the Chick Habit EP and on the album Paris in April. Both discs feature 2 versions of the song - one in English and one in French. the English version is also found on the compilation album Lessons of April March. all 5 copies of the song in her discography are just over 2 minutes each.

i'm guessing that for the film, they simply spliced together the english and french versions. there is no official version which has both.

hope that helped! and let me know if you want to hear more of her stuff. she's got a great discography, but it can be hard to track some of it down
