Finally got around to listening to some of these compilations :)
Anyways, I'll just post one at a time -

RezZ -

Grand Funk Railroad - Sin's a Good Man's Brother - A nice Rockin' track :). Good stuff.

Tommy Guerrero - The Underdog - A good instrumental. Seems fine with me.

Wishbone Ash - The King Will Come - Can't go wrong with Wishbone Ash's Argus. A great track, with superb vocal harmonies.

Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King - A great album with excellent guitar work and I actually like those vocals. I don't listen to it often, but there are many albums I've listened to only few times and still like.

Del Tha Funkee Homosapian - Madness - Hip-hop in small/medium doses is fine with me. I'm not a big fan of hip-hop/rap, but this is perfectly acceptable. I liked it.

Blackfield - 1,ooo People - Quite boring imo. It's not bad music I guess, just that It doesn't have much going for me. I've listened to Blackfield I & II and both didn't appeal much.

John Frusciante - Carvel - Both RHCP and John Frusciante have never appealed to me much. I've listened to this before. I guess, same way I feel about Blackfield. I can see how some might like it, although admittedly, I do like this more than Blackfield. Still though, doesn't do much.

San Francisco's Shiver - Tough As Nails

The Flow - Bijinkes

The Insect Trust - Hoboken Saturday Night

The last three tracks - Didn't do much for me I'm afraid :(. I find that there are many bands in this "acid-psychedelic" rock kinda thing that aren't adventurous enough. Music doesn't really need to be "original", but I found these three tracks to be quite dull. Tough As Nail wasn't that bad, but the other two were very dull.

Overall, the first half - good, second half - Didn't like it much. None of it made me jump up & down or anything, but It's good sometimes to get away from this obscure brain of mine to good ol' rocking stuff.

Two Different Nights: Night One
I don't know if I'm getting myself in over my head here, but for my first attempt at one of these mixtapes I'm doing part one of a two-parter, describing two different nights with music. The link is at the bottom of my post. Hope you enjoy it...

1. "Wild Women"—Alien Sex Fiend
You meet up at friend's place with several people for some drinks before going out. Over shots of Jagermeister and a little hash out on the porch things get a little goofy.

2. "Surfer Calavera"—Los Fabulosos Cadillacs
The group of you catch a cab. It's a hairy drive swerving in and out of traffic but eventually you get where you're going.

3. "Mucha Muchacha"—Esquivel
You start your night out in a big godfather booth at a casual place, occasionally flirting with the waitress. Smoke swirls up toward the high ceiling.

4. "Big Wave"—Johnny Dowd
You stroll down the street looking for a new place to stop at. Things get a little weird with a panhandler in aviator shades at the corner of Aldine and Clark.

5. "Caravan"—Chris Connolly
All of you finally find a place you can agree on. There's a band tonight but they haven't started yet. You wend your way through the crowd, smiling at people and holding your beer above shoulder height so it doesn't spill.

6. "Got My Own Thing Now"—Squirrel Nut Zippers
A significant number of drinks later and you're dancing like a fiend.

7. "Hopak"—Ukranians
And... you're still dancing your ass off, faster and faster. You try to incorporate the occasional drunken stumble into your arsenal of dance moves so it looks like it's intentional.

8. "Heulodoch 7B"—Foetus
You're soaked with sweat and still dancing even as you saddle up to the bar. Several shots and some bad behavior later and the bouncer is asking you to leave.

9. "Dean's Dream"—Dead Milkmen
The group splits up. You and one of your friends find your way to a basement bar and end up in a little alcove having a slurred conversation about his ex-girlfriend.

10. "Indian Love Call"—Slim Whitman
You and your friend part ways. You don't feel like taking the train and you can't find a cab so you decide to walk. You meander down residential streets, a full moon poking out from behind tree branches above you.

And here comes another one in my "listen to" list :p:
Sounds interesting. This one hopefully would go well.

Bad Days - The Flaming Lips
Balm in Gilead - Paul Robeson
Black Is Black - Jungle Brothers
Burning Issues - Bill Hicks
Crows - Modey Lemon
Down At The Club - The Vines
Funk Gets Stronger - Funkadelic
Lost - Meat Puppets
Making Time - The Creation
Roses Are Free - Ween

No scheme, just 10 good tracks I uploaded recently so why not share the 'wealth' before it gets taken down. A couple can't be found on albums. Robeson and Hicks are two heroes. Vines track is an old B-side a la Kinks. Modey Lemon are like Cream but 30 years after the fact and unsuccessful. The Creation were what Oasis wish they could be. Funkadelic track is one of their last classic jams.

1. "Je T'aime Moi Non Plus" by Serge Gainsbourg
2. "Cherry Blossom Girl" by Air
3. "Jimmy" by M.I.A.
4. "Just Like Honey" by The Jesus & Mary Chain
5. "Pale Movie" by Saint Etienne
6. "Lady Grinning Soul" by David Bowie
7. "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star
8. "Superstar" by Sonic Youth
9. "My Dark Star" by Suede
10. "Venus In Furs" by The Velvet Underground

Just finished listening to this. Great mix and certainly very sexy! I'd probably have picked "Hombre" as MIA's sexiest song but "Jimmy" is a great song too. Thanks for the mix. :)

Anyways, this one's an all instrumental one. The first track alone is an exception. Since i listen to a lot of progressive stuff, Instrumentals come and go often. I didn't include any weird stuff or any of that 8 minute guitar solos. Nothing flashy, kinda easy listening actually. No soundtracks or post-rock either as those could use their own compilations :D None of those weird avant-garde jazzy stuff as well.(that will come next)

Track Listing

1. Latte E Miele - I Testimoni (1 parte) - As i said, this one alone is an exception. Please do adjust for the first few seconds as there are vocals(in Italian).

2. Latte E Miele - I Testimoni (2 parte) - Continuation of part 1.

3. Locanda Delle Fate - A volte un istante di quiete

4. Banco del Mutuo Soccorso - Danza Dei Grandi Rettili

5. Le Orme - Alienazione

6. Premiata Forneria Marconi - La terra dell'acqua - Tracks 1 to 6 are typical Italian stuff(mostly symphonic). Almost all albums have one instrumental and I've just put some together here. Most of it is British influenced prog., more in the vein of Genesis, VDGG and a bit of Jethro Tull. Nothing flashy or weird and no over-instrumentation either. Like i said, kinda easy listening.

7. Goblin - Snip Snap - From one of their few non-soundtrack releases. Decided not to use soundtracks since that can have it's own compilation :) I would have personally chosen the title track "Goblin", but decided to keep it short and simple here. Some nice bass work.(fretless bass?)

8. Camel - SuperTwister - Another short instrumental. Some nice Flute playing here.

9. King Crimson - Sailor's Tale - My favorite King Crimson Instrumental, from the album "Islands".

10. Dün - Arrakis - The only track, that I would consider a little bit "weird". It's right at the end, so you can wait for it.

If any of you liked the last track, there's more of where that came from.(In the next compilation :D)

Astonishing. Absolutely superb. I have the Camel, Goblin and King Crimson but the rest I definitely want. Best comp I have heard in a while.
