Huzzah! Someone has finally upped a comp instead of the usual suspects! Not keen on Avenged Sevenfold but there is a couple of bands I have'nt heard so I will give this a go!

I will listen to the couple of outstanding ones on my comp and will up a few more over the next week. Apologies to those who have upped. I am in process of combining two pc's worth of music onto an external HD I bought today and basically tidying it up. As soon as this is all sorted we are off and running again!

off the top of my head right now, not in cd order.

monk time - monks
paper hats - this heat
serge gainsbourge - ballade de melody nelson
shrink wrap - this heat
suicide - fast money music
silver apples - oscillations
stephen malkmus - 1% of One
tim buckley - driftin'
tim buckley - hallucinations/toubadour (from the peel sessions)
primus - to defy the laws of tradition

i don't normally use the same artist twice on a mix but i felt like it today.

Release the bats - The birthday party

This song freed me from the trap of linear song structure, and the emotion in nick caves desperate bellow is frightening

Iron man - Black Sabbath

probably the first band that i seriously got into, and the only one from that early period that i still love. This song made me love music.

Close to me - The cure

Until i heard this song i was a classic metal head
this is perfect pop
and my ultimate envy

around the world - Daftpunk

this song opened up the world of electronic music for me
a world i now revel in as dance/electronica is my main musical focus
(even though im primarily a guitarist, i love my synth just as much these days)

The man who sold the world - David Bowie

I love this man

at home he's a tourist - Gang of four

got me seriously into post-punk and gave me the funk

Into my arms - Nick Cave and the bad seeds

sticks out really in my mind as it was the first song my grandfather, father and I listened to in the car after my grandmother died suddenly this year.

Break my body - Pixies

they are just plain fantastic

Paranoid android - Radiohead

A friend of mine gave this to me when i was seriously depressed and into some of the heaviest music known to man. It opened up a whole new musical world for me and was the beginning of my musical mind expansion.

Right-track hasn't gotten back to me about the link thing yet, so I figured I could add it in later?... Here's my list.

House of the Rising Sun - The Animals

I was playing cards one of the many times I do, with my grandmother and the guy I inevitably fell in love with... I've always loved this song and when it came on and this look came over his face and he told me he loved it. Think he said it was his favorite.

If Loving You Is Wrong I Don't Wanna Be Right - Bobby Blue Band

Also played this song for the aforementioned guy. There were many problems in the situation and this song just says it all.

I'm On Fire - Bruce Springsteen

How I feel about not being able to be with someone. Everyone feels that way. You read too many books and listen to too many songs and watch too many movies and you find yourself over-emotional about everything and you start listening to I'm On Fire on repeat and bawling your eyes out cuz it speaks so much about a desire you can't covet.

Molly - Sponge

Always thought this song spoke true to what might one day happen to me or somebody love. See you naked in the bath, think you're drunk, I start to laugh. See the lipstick on your glass, cigarette stains on your hands... 16 candles down the drain.

That's How Strong My Love Is - Stones

When I love somebody, that's how I love them. Give them everything I've got and more. And the... pain that's inbetween the lines of the song, kind of hints to me about losing someone. That's something I'm too familar with. Pour tu, mon cher.

In These Arms - Bon Jovi

This is getting repetitive... another song about wanting someone that can't be there because of one reason or another. And you'd do anything... beg, steal, die, to have them with you. Like the roses need the rain, like the poets need the pain. And these were your words, your words were your songs.

Maybe - Janis Joplin

A song about wanting someone to come back, even if they can't and you know it in your bones. But you can't help it, it overpowers you. And you're thinking. Maybe. Maybe.

I Won't Back Down - Johnny Cash

When life's **** and you can't do it anymore, you've gotta remember you've gotta keep going. Words of wisdom from the man in black, who said, yeah, maybe he was goin' to a funeral. But he was goin' in style.

Why Does Love Gotta Be So Sad? - Derek and the Dominos

Yeah. Why the **** does love gotta be so sad? Says it all. Well I guess anything worth having is worth waiting for - aye?

As Long As I Can See The Light - Creedence Clearwater Revival

A song about someone who promises he'll come back, but circumstances are, now he's gotta go for a while. But he'll come back, as long as he can still see the light.
