1.Pelican - "Drought"
2.Old Man Gloom - "Rape Athena"
3.Femme Fatale - "At the Altar"
4.Lightning Bolt - "Captain Caveman"
5.AIDS Wolf - "Relevant Issues"
6.Boris - "Huge"
7.Envy - "Invisible Thread"
8.Sunn O))) & Boris - "N.L.T."
9.A Silver Mt. Zion - "Broken Chords Can Sing a Little"
10.Godspeed You! Black Emperor - "Blaise Bailey Finnegan III"

They did'nt appear in this order as it seems that the above was the correct order due to the ambient last tracks and i was too lazy to change them around. I will review as they appear though.

1. A few people have recommended them and now I see why. Awesome opening. Nice and grindy yet still controlled.
2. Riffage was good enough but not particularly engaging enough.
3. I liked this a lot. Need to get an album.
4. Another name I have heard but not checked out. Hated the drum track but there was enough for me to want to hear some more tracks.
5. I don't mind discordant music sometimes but this just wound me up.
6. I remember you posting about Boris's other releases. Don't know what to make of it. Was a little too monotonous for me.
7. Yeah not bad at all.
8. This was certainly minimalist. Is it a split album? May have to check that out.
9. I have this track-excellent stuff
10. Took an age to get going but another glorious Post Rock track.

A few up's may be in order

it's from a collabrated album called "Altar"

not all the other songs arent as bare as that one.. i just love the standup bass in it, eerie.

1. The Japonicas- Toy Town Blues
Some of the best Trad. Ska I have heard in a while. An awesome toe tapper.
2. Ras Ibuna - Diverse Doctrine.
A fantastic Roots Reggae classic. I still need the album.
3. Black Uhuru - Chill Out
Backed by the finest Reggae Rhythm duo (Sly & Robbie), BU had the dulcet tones of Michael Rose adding a sweet soul sound.
4. Dillinger - Dub Them Rasta
'Ready Nattie Dread' is another overlooked Reggae album that needs new fans.
5. The Specials - Do Nothing.
Not only a damn fine Ska band. They are a damn fine ban full stop. One of Englands finest bands. Their highly charged lyrics are just as relevant nearly 30 years on.
6. Linton Kwesi Johnson - Inglan Is A Bitch.
A poet and a musician. Lyrically superb. Essential Dub.
7. The Toasters - 2-Tone Army
I think they hold the record for longest surviving Ska band. They kick started the 3rd wave way back in '81 and are still whacking out cracking tunes.
8. Dreadzone - Ali Baba
Mixing soundsystem electronica and Reggae. Dreadzone are still a festival favourite and I'm off to see them in a couple of weeks.
9. Ska Cubano- Soy Campesino
Fusing traditional Cuban music and Ska provides infectious beats.
10. The Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra - Natty Parade
Excellent modern take on Ska. Underated and far too obscure for their own good.

Songs that break my heart.
...both musically and sentimentally.

01. A Perfect Circle, '3 Libras'
02. Tori Amos, 'Winter'
03. Iron & Wine, 'Such Great Heights'
04. Jeff Buckley, 'Hallelujah'
05. The Cranberries, 'Ode to my Family'
06. Damien Rice, 'The Blower's Daughter'
07. Radiohead, 'Fake Plastic Trees'
08. Josh Pyke, 'Middle of the Hill'
09. Coldplay, 'Fix You'
10. Annie Lennox, 'Into the West'

Mostly a personal thing, but download if you like. And laugh at my lameness!

Downloading now I'm already impressed to see Kate Bush, The Cure, and Crowded House on there - some of my favourite artists.
