Alice In Chains

One of my favorite bands, Alice in Chains was a big part of the Grunge scene with there most popular album Dirt. They were originally advertised as a heavy metal band before Facelift 9There debut) was released. In 2002 Layne Staley (lead singer) died of an overdose and they have gotten back together since 2005 with a new vocalist.
"Alice in Chains is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1987 by guitarist Jerry Cantrell and vocalist Layne Staley. Although widely associated with grunge music, the band's sound incorporates heavy metal and acoustic elements."

Excellent beginner guide...perfect selection of songs - if I made a guide I probably would have added "Rain When I Die", because it's my favorite song by them, but otherwise this is spot on

I just noticed your intro to Ween, LP. When I saw those tracks I knew that an old-school fan was behind at least some of the list (good job, sidewinder). I used to be a huge fan but I stopped at White Pepper. Actually, I would love to see a comp of good stuff from post-White Pepper because I know some has got to be out there but there are just so many boring possibly-but-not-noticably-ironic songs to sit through to find them.

I listened to the Ween comp and i didn't realise they were THAT all over the place. I think i may be in the 'not my thing' crew, although You ****ed Up is a great breakup song!

A great idea for a thread. Looking forward to discovering more artists and great music.

sidewinder had nothing to do with my compilation, I just asked him what songs he'd choose and compare them to mine to get a sense of how much we differ on Ween, which as I found out was quite a lot :P

Oh - my mistake. Well, good job to you, then.

Yeah I was going to correct you as well, particularly if you were referring to the old songs, "You Fucked Up" being the oldest, because I didn't pick that one. ;) But I like it.
