I too worship at the church of Boognish and savour all that is brown... so fittingly my favourite album is 'Pure Guava' followed by 'Chocolate and Cheese' and the utterly wasted early home-recorded stuff. The Beginner's Guide to.. Epic Trance

Trance all started in the early 90s when artists such as Paul van Dyk, Cosmic Baby, and Dance 2 Trance all began making hypnotic synth driven music. By today's standards most of it would be considered "Goa" but at the time there weren't any types.. there was just Trance. As it became more and more popular the sound got more refined and the songs became more energetic and more accessible. The original hypnotic, or "trance-inducing" sound was more or less out the window. In this commercial era pretty much all trance was either Epic, Progressive, or Hard. This dominated the trance sound from pretty much 1998 to 2004. In 2004 many artists stopped being afraid to experiment and started creating their own sound. Armin van Buuren started producing much more Progressive stuff, Ferry Corsten practically made a new genre called Electro trance, Tiesto combined a lot of House influence to his songs and made a tune called Traffic.. one of the first tech trance songs ever, and Paul Oakenfold left trance to produce music that was more in demand : House. Nowadays Epic Trance is much less common because it is no longer the commercial electronic genre of choice. Although it is still being produced.

The Beginner's Guide to Gift of Gab

Gift of Gab is quite possibly one of the most talented and versatile MC's to ever be discovered in the Hip Hop scene. With a rapid fire delivery mixed with internal rhymes, allusions, metaphors, and tongue twisters it's pretty easy to see why he's been able to rise to the level of fame that he has reached. Universally respected amongst the Underground he is truly a shining example of the amazing level of skill that comes with Hip Hop. He was the first MC I ever really got into with the song "Alphabet Aerobics", rapping his way through the alphabet, going faster and faster. I was in awe after I heard it and immediately went out looking for everything I could find. I first started off with the three Blackalicious albums where he is the MC while Chief Xcel takes over beat making. Blackalicious is his most well known project, however he has released one solo record entitled 4th Dimensional Rocketships Going Up. In 2008 he joined a hip hop "supergroup" with Lateef the Truth Speaker of Latyrx called The Mighty Underdogs that released the debut album Droppin' Sciene Fiction. I've taken what I think to be his best work and created one mix that will hopefully create some new fans and open up previously reserved people to Hip Hop music like what happened to me.

Kudos on the guide to Ween, they are great! I know you shouldn't add too much of Mollusk songs, but Buckingham Green is a great one too. Mollusk is a great album, definitely their most accessible (and best!)

Would anyone be interested in a Minor Threat guide? I know you can get their discography in total but I know whenever I'm trying to get into a new band I don't like having 30 songs thrown at me.

This is a mix of songs that I have made that show some of the various musical scenes we have in SA ranging all over the country and into various genres. There are a mix of some major bands/artists and some more lesser known bands just to keep everything interesting.
