Whilst they may have started out as a simple music course project of leader Stuart Murdoch, Belle & Sebastian have gone on to craft some of the smartest, most purely enjoyable pop of the last 20 years. The group have evolved from the twee of their Tigermilk debut, through the chamber pop of their 1996 masterpiece If You're Feeling Sinister and the delightful folk-pop gems that comprised their breakthrough The Boy With The Arab Strap, happily changing their sound to incorporate genres as diverse as Northern Soul, glam rock, jangle pop and chamber pop.
