Ok jackhammer, I'll definitely be downloading it but.... no Thick As A Brick? It's obvious sure, but it's also awesome:D.

Antonio 02-10-2010 01:47 PM

yeah, but there's also the whole over 40 minute running time for it too ;)

but yeah, imo an album like Thick as a Brick is something that's better to listen on it's own.

Beginner's Guide to Live Band hip Hop

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3047/...26ca850ff2.jpg

Live Band Hip Hop is essentially the fusion of rock instrumentation with hip hop production and vocal delivery. Many think of it as solely the horrid rap/rock that plagued the airwaves with bands like Limp Bizket and Linkin Park, but like with every other genre of music, behind the veneer of corporate mediocrity there lies a plethora of talent. Bands from all over the globe have been fusing different genres and turning them into a type of music that seems relevant to the youth. Hip Hop fused with funk, jazz, punk, indie, rock, etc. just seems to work so well with many of these bands. Many people are already familiar with The Roots and from them has exploded dozens of bands emulating their style and tweaking it to their own personal preferences. I've carefully taken specific songs from various artists and tried putting them in an order that just flows. With any luck this will inspire some of us to pick up an instrument and form a group, or at least pass this list on to someone else who may be more musically inclined.

01. "Bomb Track" - Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine (1992)
02. "Much Ado" - The Blend - After What Came Before (2005)
03. "Follow" - G Band Free - Backwards Crown (2004)
04. "Big City, Bright Lights" - Artofficial - Fist Fights and Foot Races (2008)
05. "Last Tattoo" - Rehab - Graffiti the World (2005)
06. "Ain't Saying Nothing New" - The Roots - Things Fall Apart (1999)
07. "Phoenix" - Animate Objects - Ridin' In Fast Cars With Your Momma (2007)
08. "Today" - LuciDream - Choose the Madness (2006)
09. "Keep Myself Awake" - True Live - The Shape of It (2006
10. ``Even the Scars Forget The Wounds`` - Gruvis Malt - ... With the Spirit of a Traffic Jam (2002)
11. ``The Corner (ft. Gift of Gab`` - Galactic - From the Corner to the Block (2007)

Beginner's Guide to Alt. Country

http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/50...e+at+BamaJ.jpg

Been kicking around the idea of doing an alternative country guide because there's a lot more stuff out there than just Wilco. This isn't filled with your pop country that plagues the airwaves nor is it my depressing Gothic Country. This is a collection of some old, some new, and some interesting fusions between different genres. It's a rather lengthy playlist, but I decided that the more people could be exposed to, the higher the odds of someone coming across something they liked.

Track List:

01. "Reefer Load" - Scott H. Biram - Graveyard Shift (2006)
02. "The Truck Got Stuck" - Corb Lund - Hair In My Eyes Like A Highland Steer (2005)
03. "Drinkin' Again' - Corey Smith - In The Mood (2007)
04. "Folksingers Heart" - Two Cow Garage - Speaking In Cursive (2008)
05. "George Jones Talking Cellphone Blues" - Drive-By Truckers - Fine Print (2009)
06. "Walkin' Man" - The Interpestuals - ReviveR (2000)
07. "Freight Train" - Headwater - Lay You Down (2009)
08. "Stillest Hour" - .357 String Band - Ghost Town (2006)
09. "Shake Like A Flame" - Glossary - For What I Don't Become (2006)
10. "Easy" - Deer Tick - Born On Flag Day (2009)
11. "This Is How We Do Things In The Country" - Slim Cessna's Auto Club - The Blovdy Tenent Trvth Peace (2004)
12. "Gimme My Dog Back" - Slobberbone - Everything You Thought Was Right Was Wrong Today (2000)
13. "The Mercy Wheel" - A.A. Bondy - When The Devil's Loose (2009)
14. "Why Should the Fire Die" - Nickel Creek - Why Should the Fire Die? (2005)
15. "Comfortably Numb" - Luther Wright & The Wrongs - Rebuild the Wall (2001)
16. "Miss You Now" - Elliott BROOD - Mountain Meadows (2008)
17. "Unhinged" - The Drams - Jubilee Drive (2006)
18. "You're Gonna Love Me" - The Dexateens - Lost and Found (2008)
19. "Translucent Sparrow" - The Sadies - Favourite Colours (2004)
20. "Can't Feel A Thing" - Lucero - 1372 Overton Park (2009)
21. "New Madrid" - Uncle Tupelo - Anodyne (1993)
22. "Death of the Life of the Party" - Drag the River - Death of the Life of the Party (2008)

One of the best songs I've ever heard.

And that's a pretty nice looking comp. I'll probably give a couple of those bands a listen.

It was hard to choose a Steve Earle song because he has such an expansive discography so I just decided to go with one that is arguably his best.

05. "Last Tattoo" - Rehab - Graffiti the World (2005)

Theres a few bands on your comp I haven't heard... So I am going to have to give a spin...

But you have to help me on why you choose a rehab song off Graffiti the World and not Southern DisComfort. That Album is horrible compared to their first of course IMO. Just curious why?

Off your list... I am a fan of The Herd, The Roots and RATM. A few others a I got a pure passion of hate for but thats just tastes I think. But Thanks for the Mix.

Because I preferred Graffiti the World to Southern Discomfort. I thought their 2005 release had a stream of really well written songs (particularly "Red Water") and on Southern Discomfort I found myself only really getting into three songs "Sittin' at a Bar", "More Like You", and "Thinkin' Again". Graffiti the World had a more broad range of topics whereas Southern Discomfort was largely dedicated to rehabilitation.
