Wow! I can't believe that something I started in my first incarnation here has not only survived (unlike my first journal) but thrived beyond all expectation!

I usually huddle in the safety of my journal and rarely look out, and it's only recently I've started to crack the door and peer blinking in the sunlight out into the world of the rest of the forum, so I missed seeing this was still here. Glad you guys are getting such good use out of it, great that one of my original ideas is being taken on so well, and I must put together another guide soon, thinking maybe Marillion or Divine Comedy, though I am wondering if I should leave out artistes that I have covered in my journal under this very name, the Beginner's Guide to...?

One idea: should we create a list of artistes already covered, so nobody does one twice? 100 pages now, and it's a lot to check back through...?

Anyway, this is great! Long live me!
Seriously, I had no idea this would last four years. Great to see it has.

What's funny is I was considering giving it a shameless bump so new folks could see it and regulars might remember it. I've had it bookmarked since I started posting here and wish it was super-active. I plan on putting more together in the near future, but it does kinda stink when you toss a couple hours into making one and no one checks it out XD. So let's get this thread popular.

Here's an (admittedly not too original) idea: why not have a competition for something like "comp of the month", so that people download the comps and then rate them, and whoever get the most votes could be given some sort of pointless honour or something? At least it would ensure more people both posted, and downloaded/listened to comps.

edit

Exactly, sounds like something I'd love to participate in.

Oh all right, someone has to say it.... looks a bit fishy to me!
Yes, I know you're just fishing for compliments, but really what is the music all ab-trout? (THAT one was particularly awful, I know!)

Expect your artwork to appear soon on the front of the National Enquirer or Weekly World News with the headline

ALIEN FISHMONSTERS SECRETLY PILOTED B17S IN WORLD WAR II!

touche good sir....touche

the cd's are a wide variety of the music i like.....although somewhat geared at her taste with obvious well placed favorites but concentrating on opening her to new bands and genres.....at first i was a little bummed out when she told me not to make a tape.....tapes are way more fun to make and i can splice in silly movie samples.....but i have to admit i really put quite a bit of thought into the track selection and order and fell it actually came out quite well

the next comp i make will called Cows At Play
