Got the D3200 in the end.

Enjoying playing around with it. Realising how hard photography is and appreciating the pics in this thread.

sadly, my camera is ****ing old,
about 5+ years, so i can't really keep up with the ultra high resolution stuff, that modern cameras have.
But as i'm absolutely in love with abstract photography,
and I do this since years,
I can still catch up with a bit of skill :/

You may find (as I did) that you will also want a smaller camera that you can fit in a shirt or pants pocket for times when you don't want to carry your D3200 with you. I bought a Nikon Coolpix L18 for around $90 (US) several years ago and many of the pictures I've taken with it look as good as pictures I've taken with my more expensive Sony DSC-H2. I usually bring my Nikon with me when I know I will be close enough to take decent pics without needing the extra capabilities of my Sony (the picture I posted of Al Bouchard playing drums, wearing the Godzilla mask, was taken with it.)

You can spend a lot more for a pocket-sized camera, depending on what you want for features, but even the ones like my $90 Nikon will probably be all you will want, most of the time, when you don't need your D3200.

Shit, didn't see this.

Cheers mate. Yeah, I see where you're coming from and other people have said the same, but atm I'm fine with the size/weight. D3200 is smaller than other DSLRs as well, so it's not too bad. Will probs just buy a bag and wear that tbh.

Show off some of your beginning work. I'd like to see what you are doing with it.

Beginning work is fully shit bro & I've not been out much with it. Once I've started to get the hang of it I'll post up some stuff.

that's the point though, to see your progression as you get better. Don't be shy about posting the shit stuff.

I went on a serious solitude walk/hike today. I went from my building to Palisades Park and down the cliffs to Henry Hudson Drive and walked under the George Washington Bridge.

Started at the High School behind my building.

View of the bridge through the woods at the top of the cliffs.

I love walking in the woods during autumn.

I found some stone structure on my walk down the trail.

So I added my own to the rest!

Symmetry is awesome.

This was the best part of my week. As I was walking home, this awesome f*cking hawk was perch on a tree branch. He only stayed there for about 45 seconds and I had trouble getting the lighting correct, but this is the best shot I could get. It put a huge grin on my face.
