What do you mean true for 3 1/2 decades? You used to see the occasional team make it, 76'ers, OKC recently, detroit pistons etc. It really only seems dire the last couple years IMO

Since 1980 there have been 19 teams that have won the World Series, 17 different Super Bowl champions, 16 different Stanley Cup winners and only 9 teams have won an NBA championship. Of those 9 teams, two have only one (Philly in '83 and Dallas in '11), then there's the two titles in Houston while Jordan was playing minor league baseball, leaving Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Bulls, Spurs and Heat with all the rest of the titles.

This trend is guaranteed to continue in '14

I say it was at least a close call, which it undeniably was and the announcers agreed with that, and you call me a heat fan.
