Shaq WAS that team. Kobe should have taken the back seat to him like stockton did malone, and he's still considered one of the best players ever. It's all Kobe's ego (not to say Shaq didn't have one too) but I mean look at the facts, Lakers with Shaq = Awesome/ Lakers without Shaq = Broke. Not to mention Shaq went straight to Miami and brought them a championship. Kobe is nothing but an attention whore, I don't understand how fans can even like him. He hurts the team more than anything.

Pau Gasol is the MVP of the lakers now, as was Shaq when he was there. No big man = no playoffs for lakers.

We're both wrong, it was the same season. Still, my point is valid. You can't compare how well Shaq would do on the team without Kobe, so it's not a fair comparison.
