I could understand doing a massive overhaul for a sure-thing goalie like Lundqvist, but Bryzgalov seems like a bit of a headcase.

The Kings look scary right now. That top 6 will be a handfull.

Penner-Kopitar-Williams (even though I don't think he played with these two last year)
Smyth-Richards-Brown (this line would wreak havoc).

And it's good for Columbus to finally get that center, but how will the dynamic between Nash and Carter work? Both are shoot-firts powerforwards. Maybe they could go after a passing winger like Hemsky. I still really like Johansen too, I think he's one of the best prospects there is; not sure if they'll bring him up next year though.

I wouldnt expect to see Smyth in a Kings jersey next season, he's headed back home to Alberta. Regheir (SP?) is gonna wave his no trade and Smyth is headed to Calgary. He's washed up anyways.

Tanguay just got an extension, there's no chance Smyth goes to the Flames. Edmonton already has a deal in place for him, they're just waiting for Gilbert Brule to complete medical testing for it to go through.

Ah, I see that now. Im sure that would have been his prefered of the two. Unfortunately I just dont think he fits in whatsoever with what Edmonton is doing. Obviously he's gonna be a veteran guy off the ice to all the young players. But thats what Horcoff has already been doing.

Very glad to see Bieksa sticking around for 5 more !

We're gonna have a lot of fiddling to do to keep Ehrhoff around though. Rypien, Tambolini, and Salo are free agents as well.

Can't believe the B's landed Dougie Hamilton. I had him as the 4th best player in the draft behind Larsson, RNH and Landeskog. And we got great value with Khokhlachev in the 2nd round too. One of the youngest players in the draft and probably would have gone top 10-15 next year if he was born about a week later. What a season this has been.

Apparently there has been quite a bit of talk about Stamkos heading in Philly's direction.

Naw, that'd be an unprecedented feat by Holmgren and an incredible blow to Yzerman that I can't envision actually taking place. The NHL is still a boy's club among GM's, and I'm not sure Holmgren would be that bold in his dealings.

Thom Yorke 06-30-2011 09:13 AM

Ya, you might see a smaller offer sheet (like the one on Hjalmarsson) but GM's know the backlash that would happen if you give Stamkos some crazy deal.

Also, Stamkos is way overrated. Just saying. Doughty should be the real focus of attention for an offer sheet.

pourmeanother 06-30-2011 11:33 AM

Yeah, I've got my focus squarely on Drew Doughty and Shea Weber at this point, and how their restricted free agency is going to unfold.
