Especially a guy like Stamkos who is one of the best in the game. Such a shame for Tampa.

No, unfortunately not. When I make the trip over to Van, or for a Canucks game or a concert. I live on the Island, an hour and a half north of Victoria. But now that the Royals are in Vic, its a lot easier to see the WHL, which is an incredible league.

As the crow flies the Royals are the second closest team to Everett (the first being Seattle, who actually play well southeast of Seattle in Kent). I've been to Vancouver several times but I've never been to Victoria. Maybe I'll catch a game there someday.

Also, I should ask, should junior hockey be discussed here? Or is there enough interest to support it's own thread?

I dont see many outside of you and I talking Junior Hockey anyways.. Im sure it's good in here.

Reaaally awful to see Stammer go out like that...a huge blow for Canada, as he was a shoe in to play on the right side of Crosby in Sochi. But this opens up a giant spot for a young player like Matt Duchenne, who's had a fantastic start to the season. I hope for a speedy, full recovery for Stammer though. You dont see many players who carry themselves the way he does on and off the ice. Class act.

Nice to see Ted Nolan back with Buffalo. Hopefully he doesn't f**k his goalie's wife this time around.

The US Division is clearly the strongest in the WHL right now. The last place team (Seattle) would be third in any other division. Portland has the best record in the league, and second place Everett (who I'm going to see again tonight) would lead or co-lead any other division in the WHL.

I used to be really into junior hockey. We have AHL and OHL out here. We used to get season tickets to either the Toronto St Mike's Majors (OHL but they've since moved the team to Mississauga), or for the Toronto Marlies (AHL). Sometimes I would also go see the Hamilton Bulldogs (farm team for the Habs).

I haven't followed the Junior leagues in a few years though.

OHL is a Major Junior Hockey league like the WHL. The level of play is really damn good, young NHL level talent, and I dunno what prices are like there but Becky and I have SERIOUSLY good seats for tonight's game, it was only $40 for the tickets plus whatever we spend on food (the arena in Everett has pretty damn good grub). About what we might spend going to a movie. I love it.

Yeaa, the Giants are currently advertising as a "Team under construction" hahah. Clean rebuild. Start with your 15 yr olds and work your way through it. Similar to what Dale Hunter did when he took over in London...and we all saw how thats ended up. It helps that Vancouver had the first overall pick in the Bantam Draft, and drafted the insanely highly regarded 15 yr old Tyler Benson. I can't wait to see how this kid turns out. Put up some mighty fine numbers in his final year of Bantom. 146 points in 33 games. I believe he makes his Vancouver debut tomorrow night.
