We've lost our last 6 home games..and as you said in an above post. We WERE a very physical team for the first few months..led the league in penalty minutes as wellas fighting majors. Although we still lead the league in penalty minutes, they're not the majors or the roughing penalties that are a mementum shifter. They're the exact opposite. Dumb minor penalties we can't be taking. And yea, I hear you about chicago..weve had some trouble with them as well..and they're definitely a beatable team.

yeah and just after I posted that we lost the past two games. None of those should have been losses, we played really badly.

I'm just thankful that the Penguins are starting to pull their heads out of their asses. First consecutive win since November, and against good teams too. (We're back in the playoff picture, too!) Bruins and Caps are looking unstoppable in the East, it looks like a tossup between the Sharks and the Wings to take the West, still can't tell yet.

Is it just me or did Alexander Semin and Niklas Backstrom get ridiculously good since last season? I definitely do not remember them being this good.

Semin was already a stud last year..but I do think backstrom has really improved.

nice. flames head to the all-star break with a 9 point lead in the division. awesome performance in the shootout against the blue jackets. Bertuzzi's goal was a really great goal, and kipper held off all three shooters easily. great showing, they're in a really good place going into the break.

Phuck Phaneuf!

The Flames have risen to be one of my most hated teams. I respect Iginla who is one of the NHL's elite. But-- Phaneuf, Bertuzzi, and Sarich on a single team is overkill. It just begs to be hated on. This is of course aside from the fact that you have our former netminder between the pipes, a Strelow product that we handed to you. Grr.

Yes- bay area, born and raised Sharks fan here.

If we lock up that 1-seed we will be tough to contend with, given home ice through the playoffs. 22 wins and 3 losses at the Shark Tank this season is unreal. Then again, it's all about who's hot and what goalie steps up in the playoffs, so you never know...

As a Nucks fan I have to hate Calgary. And I really do, and I agree with you about Iggy. I think he epitomizes what a hockey player should be. As for Phaneuf..I hate him in a flames jersey...Love him in a Canada jersey. One of the best checking offensive D men in the whole league. Cant say enough about the guy really. Im down with Phaneuf.

See this is funny. I hate Phaneuf with a passion. Yes he's a good player, yes he's an asset to our team. But he's only a few years older than me, and as a consequence, many of my best friends grew up with the guy, and I have heard enough of the braindead asswipe to warrant hating him more than any other professional athlete in history. this is all on a purely personal level however, and his hockey skills extend just far enough that I can refrain from throwing things at the tv when he gets the puck. I do mutter obscenities though.

And Kipper, please, yes acquiring him was the best deal the flames had made in years, possible ever, but he's become too much of an institution in this team to be associated with any former team more than he is with Calgary. This city loves him. After the 04 playoff run he's firmly cemented himself as one of the most beloved flames players of all time. Along with Iginla, Lanny MacDonald, and Al Macinnis, he'll be a Flame's player for life.
