To put it bluntly...I don't think Alex is any where near a bust and that for the past two years he's been one of the better quarterbacks in the league. I have my reasons.

I think you would have to take into context that he was a beast in Urban Meyers system and was projected as a big game qb and hes been anything but. There are tons of qbs that have come and gone who can manage games, Smith was supposed to be an All Pro QB. His 63 picks to 81 td's ratio makes me leery also.

He was a beast in Urban Meyer's system because a very well orchestrated spread system in college with a great offensive line is like taking candy from a baby. Alex got thrown into the fire when he was WAY too young and WAY too inexperienced in a pro style offense to succeed. Alex was drafted way too high. He's always going to have to live with the burden of being the overall pick in the draft even though he shouldn't have been. Those saying he was supposed to be an all pro quarterback were just flat out wrong. That shouldn't taint his credentials because of what he was supposed to be. You mentioned the TD interception ratio. I'll give you that. Keep in mind that his first two years produced 27 of those interceptions. Keep in mind that until Harbaugh came into the picture that the 49ers were perhaps besides the Browns the worst coached team in the league. Singletary didn't know what to do with a team and he hired coordinator after coordinator. Alex has had I think about 6 in his pro career. I can't name a starting QB that could succeed under those circumstances. These may sound like excuses but look at the last two years. Until Kaep started he had the best winning percentage out of any starting QB. That includes Brady and Rogers. Last year had six comeback victories so the notion that he only manages games is out the window. Look at the Saints game. Case and point.

I'm not calling Alex a great QB. I'm calling him a very good one and a top 20 starter in this league. He is in no way near a bust.

I was basing that merely on your one of the better qb's in the league statement. I'd give him top 20 in the league thats a fair point. I'd agree he somewhat had his hands tied playing in the Singletary system and hes been much better under Harbaugh. Harbaugh has a knack for instilling confidence in qb's at all levels. I'd say anyone drafted so high and coming in with such high standards and stats would certainly be a bust until proving otherwise. I certainly agree the last two years he has blossomed at reading defenses and has learn to run the offense at a much higher rate. I think we're on the same page with regard to his abilities and ranking. I merely stated he was bust because of the facts you detailed, hes certainly never gonna be mistaken for Mark Sanchez.

Your totally right man what the heck was I thinking? The guy has truly shown his resistance and poise and five games is plenty to crown him the best effing QB of all time. All hail Kaeperwack for MVP this year and lets write his place in history right now and put him in the hall of fame. Geez how did this guy even not get drafted ahead of Luck and RG3? They should be carrying his jock strap around for him or bringing him gatorade on the sidelines. This is an utter outrage and I for one am appalled by it, and am very disappointed in Jerry Jones for not noticing this kind of talent. I mean just think of how many games the Cowboys could have won with Krappersack at the helm? Possibly undefeated? It's just exausting to even think how unbelievably ignorant they were for letting a QB of this caliber slip through the cracks. I for one am now sold on him being the best thing since Manning, Bradshaw, Aikman, Elway, Montana, Brady, Marino, Brees and whoever else the media hypes as elite. Maybe we'll trade Demarcus Ware along with the rest of our squad of talent just to aquire this dude cause his athletic ability is apparently unparalleled to that of anyone ever. Forget Deon Sanders or Bo Jackson, since this guy was going to be a pitcher in college and chose the NFL instead I'm sure the rest of the MLB scene breathed a sigh of relief. The competition he would have brought to the table would have been to much and probaly would have been given the MVP in that league to after only 5 games. The Lakers are having trouble also maybe he could turn things around in LA? If the Cowboys get him in a trade he can just throw the ball to himself and do special teams, and deffense as well. Should be fun to watch.

Sparky 12-19-2012 05:53 PM

is mark sanchez a starting qb next year?

Exo 12-19-2012 05:55 PM

I would like you to point out where I said kaepernick was an all pro quarterback. You said yourself that you had no reason not to like him but that you just don't. You gave zero reasons why you are unimpressed with him and I have you five on why you should be impressed with him. I look forward to your next knowledge filled thought out response.
