If I skated, I wouldn't <_< Not everyone wants to make a career out of their hobbies.

being sponsored means that you recieve product from the company for being good, and you are expected to wear said product while skating.

i always thought it would be sweet to be sponsored, but i never really tried hard enough. i just used to skate with my friends and drink beers because it was fun.

I know two people who are sponsered, they're sponsered by really small-scale brands though. i don't even know the names.

You don't really have to turn it into a career. A lot of my friends have small shop sponsorships, which basically means they get free stuff, no responsibilities (apart from skating it and telling people about the shop).
A lot of shop owners simply like to reward the people who are good because they drive the local scene.
