I bought some new grip tape for my deck. This summer, I plan on buying a backup deck, one of those Powell M-logo things for 50 bucks. I don't want to be without a skateboard.

sweet_nothing 02-25-2009 10:00 PM

Most people I know just buy blanks, theyre cheaper than name brands.

pahuuuta 03-04-2009 01:06 PM

Yeah, but blanks are hard to find around here. The nearest skate shop (it's more like a skate fashion place with some decks and gear in the back) is retarded and overpriced.

Guybrush 03-05-2009 07:35 AM

^Ordering stuff from the net is usually simpler than going to the store. Or at least, you usually spend even less energy doing it.

7gaugejames 03-05-2009 08:27 AM

I agree, matey

Skateboards: Huge Selection of Skateboard Decks | Blackhole Boards is the best, they only charged me 9.80 to ship my g&s straight to my house. you go the board builder and you can preview your skateboard before you buy it. RAD!

Whitechapelfan200 03-05-2009 04:24 PM

Just so you know,im not sure if this is true for everybody but the plan b decks that i have had snapped pretty easily.Just letting you know.

My fav brands:

Shoes: When it comes to shoes I'm a pretty big Vans fanyboy but Ive also enjoyed skating Emerica
Decks: Ive mostly skated flip, but Bakers are good and I think the next board I get will be a Plan B

Anybody on here skate vert? Ive never met anybody thats really into it, I tried once and almost broke my tail bone

pahuuuta 03-06-2009 10:33 AM

7gaugejames 03-06-2009 10:42 AM

Skateboarding; as follows,

Thanks:love:, I tell everyone I know about it. Being a geezer, it's easier to shop if you don't have a teenager trying to sell you elbow pads.:bringit: LOL Yeah I do vert in Tony Hawk, too old and too fat.:( A mellow 6% grade at sunset and carve my Dog Town all the way to the beach. MMMMMMM skateboarding, it does a soul good.:)

LoathsomePete 03-13-2009 08:18 AM

I picked up my first long board last week to help get around town since some ******* decided it'd be a good idea to drink a 2/6 of brandy, get behind the wheel of his Mercedes and drive in to the back end of my Jeep. Luckily I wasn't hurt, however he wasn't either so I'm kinda bummed about that. So far I'm enjoying long boarding though.

was wondering if anyone on here longboarded. im getting into it after trying out my buddy's; bought my own board recently, a 8 7/8" x 37" skull skates meteor:

http://skullskates.com/catalog/images/deck_meteor.jpg

w/ bear 852 trucks & hawgs 77mm 78a wheels, abec 7 bearings

been more stoked on longboarding than anything for a long time. me and my buddy go out just cruisin at night, hittin up the parking structures since they're the only places that have hills in my town

Guybrush 05-06-2009 02:18 AM

Haha, even I got my stuff from CCS like ages ago .. :P

I've tried longboarding a little bit. The cruising was good, but the lack of control and things to do basically made me a little frustrated. Seems more like just a way to get around.

I'm on SBC as well, though I've been pretty inactive lately.

I found out that I have osteoporosis in my left foot (my stance is goofy) from an injury that happened last year when I was working in a lumberyard. I can walk fine, but the way I push off uses the exact same area that I fractured so I can't skate anymore, which I find pretty effing lame.

yeah, that's really ****in terrible. im goofy too.

Alfred 05-13-2009 06:56 PM

My friend rides goofy as well, and it sometimes gets confusing when he pretends to skateboard by jumping and kicking his feet.

I tried that the next day, but I've been skating around since I was 10 and it's like trying to write with my right hand with me (lefty), just doesn't work.

Antonio 05-13-2009 07:15 PM

pushing mongo is like playing bass with one finger. sure you'll get used to it and you might be able to do really well, but you look like a damn idiot

Mongo is the only way I can push, unless I'm going really slow. (I stand goofy)
If I try to push off the normal way, my center of gravity gets all wacked and I bite it. Plus I have more pushing power in my right leg, and more pop in my left. It's all fucked up.

sweet_nothing 05-13-2009 11:15 PM

Only real men push mongo

Fruitonica 05-14-2009 12:15 AM

It's not that hard to switch, I pushed mongo for the first couple of years I skated before I even realised there was anything odd about it. It took maybe a week's worth of skating before I was fine pushing regular.

I can push both but I chose to skate mongo, and Im pretty sure when I tre flip an 9 set I dont look too much like an idiot.

Antonio 05-14-2009 09:46 AM

ahahaha i pissed so many people off hahaha

but relax guys, it's a joke, how you push is the least of my worries when i watch a skate video

dieamerikanerin 06-10-2009 04:52 PM

I'm learning how to skate, but the board i'm using used to be my sister's and the wheels are crappy. I want to learn how to actually do stuff cuz i just know how to go forward and stop.

Astronomer 06-14-2009 06:03 PM

I used to love skating in my younger days, but then as I got older my sense of balance died :(

J.S.3otR 08-12-2009 10:46 PM

We try to keep threads of the same topic tied together, its easier for searching, archiving, etc....its just easier.

RWS 11-10-2009 10:27 PM

I used to. Know I play tony hawk haha

RWS 11-10-2009 10:29 PM

My spelling has been horrible today lol. I spelled now wrong :/ and I should definatly start editing posts instead of writing a new one...

pourmeanother 11-17-2009 07:55 PM

I skated for a long time in high school until I hit the make-or-break wall. I was at the point where I could have stuck with it and gotten better, but I was going to break some bones and nut it a few times along the way... wasn't worth it. I could ollie, nollie, kick flip, do some basic grinds, skate the bowl. My specialty was pop-shove-it, I was the ****ing master at that simple trick. Loved it.

Fruitonica 11-17-2009 08:08 PM

^What was the biggest thing you took a shuvit down? Just to understand your level of mastery...

I've picked up skating again for now, and it actually hasn't taken me that long to get back most of my tricks. Kickflips are still a problem though, which is irritating.

I actually took a pretty vicious attack to the nuts last weekend trying to boardslide this big orange parking barrier (just tall enough that you can't touch the ground sitting on it) using a kicker. I never really got the hang of popping good ollies off a ramp and I always up un-committed and off balance.

pourmeanother 11-17-2009 08:26 PM

I was mostly being facetious. I was the master because it was the first trick I learned and I could land it 100 times out of 100. I never tried it off of anything higher than a curb though :)

Yeah, honestly, risk of injury and ability to have children scared me away from the sport.
