I'm learning how to skate, but the board i'm using used to be my sister's and the wheels are crappy. I want to learn how to actually do stuff cuz i just know how to go forward and stop.

I used to love skating in my younger days, but then as I got older my sense of balance died

We try to keep threads of the same topic tied together, its easier for searching, archiving, etc....its just easier.

I skated for a long time in high school until I hit the make-or-break wall. I was at the point where I could have stuck with it and gotten better, but I was going to break some bones and nut it a few times along the way... wasn't worth it. I could ollie, nollie, kick flip, do some basic grinds, skate the bowl. My specialty was pop-shove-it, I was the ****ing master at that simple trick. Loved it.

^What was the biggest thing you took a shuvit down? Just to understand your level of mastery...

I've picked up skating again for now, and it actually hasn't taken me that long to get back most of my tricks. Kickflips are still a problem though, which is irritating.

I actually took a pretty vicious attack to the nuts last weekend trying to boardslide this big orange parking barrier (just tall enough that you can't touch the ground sitting on it) using a kicker. I never really got the hang of popping good ollies off a ramp and I always up un-committed and off balance.

I was mostly being facetious. I was the master because it was the first trick I learned and I could land it 100 times out of 100. I never tried it off of anything higher than a curb though

Yeah, honestly, risk of injury and ability to have children scared me away from the sport.
