Kayaking/Canoeing

Tell me what you own. Tell me where you've been and where you want to go. Would you recommend it? Any crazy stories? Pictures to prove? You know that ol chestnut...

I own a Heritage FeatherLite Kayak. My first big purchase and well worth it.
Heres what it looks like.

Its a slick little number, you can use it for about anything, ocean, river, creek, fishing, rapids, you name it. Its only about 40 lbs so its pretty easy to tote around. Haven't tackled any major rivers or anything yet but one of my goal spots is Green River in Utah. Anybody been?

I went once (kayaking) with my brother up on Lake Sabego in Maine and it was amazing. Darting through rocks and just being way out there on your own is pretty amazing.

I'm looking into saving up for one, but I have this problem where I have no storage space, and they don't let you carry them on the bus.

Maine, wow, I bet that was beautiful. How cold was the water? Nothing like kayaking will make you feel free, just you and the elements. I think you get more of an experience in a kayak or a canoe than you would in a big noisy speed boat that blows everything out of the water. I snuck up on a big school of channel catfish the other day (accidentally, those things are huge and scare the crap out of me) and they must have just thought I was driftwood or something cause they swam right up around my boat right near the surface of the water. They were so close I could have got one Burt Renoylds style with a spear haha.

Yeah, I could see where storing one would be a pain in the ass, especially for somebody in the city. Thats one good thing about living out in the sticks, I can carry my kayak about a hundred yards from my house and be at a creek or pond.
