Who's your friend?

I'm excited to see what Bryce can do... I think he is going to live up to the hype as a superstar type of player. For his age, he is the best hitter I've ever seen. Pure power, great balance.. Hardly any flaws in his game. With Harper and Strausburg, the Nats could start becoming a force within the next few years.

As for leaving high school early.. Absolutely the right call. Thought that then and I think it now.. He was gaining absolutely nothing from being in highschool. He really didn't even need college to be honest... Hell, he went 6 for 6 with 4 homers in a PLAYOFF game for his college team (using a wooden bat). Kid is the real deal. I never like him in interviews, he comes off as over-the-top politically correct (lots of guys do, always annoying), but it doesn't take away from what he does on the field.. and I think he has not only the raw freakish skill, but also the work ethic.

It's gonna take more than just those two to turn that ship around, but it is a step in the right direction. Strasburg has to prove he can stay healthy first...

True. No two men can do it all alone, but having two studs really gives you a solid base to build around. Strausburg will come back healthy and be dominant. Injuries happen, he'll be fine.

Sure boo boos happen, but that was a serious injury. Tommy John might not mean what it meant ten or twenty years ago, but reconstructive arm surgeries are still scary for a pitcher, especially one who puts as much stress on his arm as Strasburg.

Who's your team, Dirty? Are you a Phillies fan?

Dirty 11-05-2010 04:01 PM

There's a lot of really good pitchers who have had tommy john and were just as good or better after the surgery. Only thing is hes so young. I hope he can stay healthy because I think he's a one in a decade type of talent. But we'll see... Nats haven't had any promise in awhile so I'm glad they have someone who is packing the stadium for once.

I'm a Mets fan living in the Philly area. Not ideal. Always been a diehard Mets fan. My dad grew up watching them on the NY stations and my brother and I became huge fans through him. They are so far away from being a contender, there's a lot of things they need to address and it's gonna be awhile til they are taken seriously.

I think the Nats are going to be pretty good in two years maybe even contend with the Phils. Strasburg and Harper will be there as well as Zimmerman. They have a couple promising players in their farm system and some young players at the major league level that'll keep getting better with the right coaching. I am a Phillies fan and I was disappointed that the Nats got these two because I believe they are both going to be once in a generation type of players especially Strasburg if he can recover correctly from his Tommy John surgery.

Nats are definitely on the right path for once and they will be better, but there is noo chance of them competing with Philly. Philly has a loaded team already and they have a great minor league system. Don't worry, Philly is gonna be atop the NL East for awhile. They just have way more talent than anyone else in that division.
