The WC goes on and first up today is Holland v Japan and a victory will see the victor through with Argentina. Denmark v Cameroon should be interesting as both cannot afford to lose, but most interesting today will be Ghana v Australia because a Ghana victory really puts the krauts in serious problems after their defeat to Serbia.

Fingers crossed Australia can dust themselves off from the toweling Germany issued them and put in a respectable showing here, with Cahill and grella out they look very thin though, Kewel is going to have to wind back the clock and bring his best to ignite a spark.

As cool as I think it'd be if Japan made the last 16 again (they were one of the real disappoints in Germany '06 for me), bloody hell are they a chore to watch. The first half of the yet-to-be-concluded Holland game pretty much bored me to tears.

For **** sake bloody itai ref sending kewel and handing a dodgey pen, where was the red for the challenge on bresciano??? They've been given for less at this tourney.

Having said that Ghana look far better Aus just have no structure moving forward. This could get messy. I'd say expect more cards australias way as frustration sets in.

This made me laugh. Yeah, we should get rid of Rooney.

Rooney played badly last night, yes. But you cant condemn a strikers performance when the team as a whole cant manage to string a few passes together and instead launch long balls into the box aimlessly which of course is not playing to Rooneys strengths at all. Gerrard just behind supporting him, slotting balls behind the defence and over the top for him to run onto and it could be a different story. Of course you could find examples of bad Rooney performances in the big games, for club and country but to claim that he cant perform on such a level is ridiculous.

Carragher looked so unfit, he looked as though he had a vindaloo and a skinfull the night before. Heskey was working hard to win the ball back but offered very little else and shouldnt even be on the plane when we could have Darren Bent sitting on the bench waiting to inject some pace and a threat into a game like that. Gerrard and Rooney had an awful touch and just couldnt link up well together in that kind of a formation. Lennon was the best player on the field, in my opinion. He looked dangerous, he looked up for it and he even put a couple of great crosses in and so of course, he had to come off in a like for like switch with a lesser player.

I hadnt questioned Cappello's management before the world cup but i am now.

Le Sulk is gone! Pretty much sums it up for the French.

Instead of criticising England players you should perhaps have a go at your own compatriots pathetic and feeble attempts to even progress from the qualifying stage.
Or does your jealousy and hatred of the English outweigh the love for your own country?

Outstanding from Australia today.
Typical Aussie fighting spirit almost won the day with just 10 men.
Unlucky.
