Because you lack passion for football.

Instead, we riot because our favorite basketball team WON the championship?

I guess all those rivalries happen in the rest of the World too. For instance, the f*****g Argies are mocking us for the past three days. So much so that we now ardently wish their team commanded by their junkie coach will be eliminated as soon as possible. Since we beat them at the Davis Cup final in Argentina two years ago, they are angry with us. Like real mad dogs.

...wich is "something more" than to jump for joy because our basketball team (BTW, our favorite team in Spain too, because of Pau Gasol ) won the championship.

Yeah, there are ome pretty intense rivalries all over the globe eh, at least in footballing terms (though more often than not there's a historical thing going on there). Argentina-Brazil, Japan-Russia, Germany-Poland, Italy-France and the whole lot.

As for today's games, Brazil-Ivory Coast should be a good one, and how cool would it be if New Zealand beat Italy Whatever the odds, I know who I'm supporting for that one.

One thing that has struck me about this world cup is that there are far too many South American teams.

I mean 5? There's only 10 teams that compete in their qualifying stage. If Europe had that percentage of qualifying winners there would be 27 european teams in this world cup.

An unwritten rule of watching footie that I abide by; if your own team aren't playing, go for the underdogs!

In other news, just saw this on the 606 message boards...

Watch out for Mexico, Paraguay, Chile and Uruguay. These four teams look set to upset the pecking order in this World Cup

I hope that actually does happen, especially if England don't get as far as I hope they will - might make the later stages a bit more interesting.
