Favorite NFL Team Of All Time
 

Even though the sports threads dont seem to excel as well as others.I thought id give this idea a shot. For most we had that favorite team growing up, and even in the present. Or who we deem the all time greatest team in NFL history. Now we all know the Steelers have the most rings now. However I beleive you could put any of the teams up against the early 90's Cowboys under Jimmy Johnson. Only to find the Boy's ultimatley the winnner. Reason being the depth they had at every position. Not mentioning the talent of the starters was bar none during their reign. With the trio of Aikman.. UCLA, Irvin.. Miami, and Emmit.. Florida. Just to name the obvious core of the team. This during the last remaining stages of free agency. (In which we aquired Deion Sanders.."Florida State")..and won another Super Bowl. These were the players I grew up watching. These were the men every kid who played football wanted to be and the team we wanted to play for. Knowinig all to well we wouldnt get that chance but carried on anyway. Remembering those Sunday battle's of the NFC championship games. Which was usually the 49'ers... was what you lived for. As a die hard fan you lived and died with your team whoever that maybe. Whether it consisted of the Elway's Bronco's or Marino's Dolphins or the elite teams of today. I joined the Niners fanbase a little bit before their fifth Superbowl win. It was a thing of beauty to see Steve Young in action and tossing it out to Jerry Rice. Even when TO stepped in I loved it. Their offense was another thing that attracted me to the Niners. That's around the time when I was still learning football and learning what a West Coast offense meant.

I remember when the West Coast Offense was coming alive. Man that term got used more then the (you cant stop him..you can only hope to contain him) slogan. Though the 9'ers were a pain in my Cowboys side. I miss the old school rivalry they shared and even pull for them today. Funny Rice holds every receiving record there is and T.O. is pretty much second now. Some great players played for for the 49'ers back then. They got a good squad now I think they just need the right coach and quarterback. They got all the weapons for another high powered offense. Crabtree, Davis, Westbrook, Guinn Jr.The 49'ers have certainly earned their place in history as one of the greats.

Very nice Crash...definatley some legends of the grid iron. Before my time I beleive Dallas and GreenBay kind of battled it out a couple championship games. The famous ice bowl I beleive was one of them.In 1967 If I recall it correctly..(the best year for music also in my opinion)The year also had the makings for one of the most memorable games in NFL history. With 15 below tempatures and 30 something below wind chills. The referee's couldnt even use their whistles. The whole game had to be reffed with voice commands im pretty sure. Anyway with the great Lombardi and Landry calling shots on either side. The victory eventually gained by the Pack. With a 21-17 win. (I saw this on ESPN classic once.) Much respect for the Packs accomplishments thoughout their years of triumph and to the present. Loyal cheeshead fans, and historic frozen tundra field, and the Lambeau leap are just a few things that make up this teams mystique. Good luck this year in the playoff's.

Favorite NFL team of all time is the 1986 Giants, just because...

Lol..Fair enough... The 86 Giants kind of one of the under the radar Super Bowl victories. From a history standpoint. Even though you had guys like Lawerence Taylor and Phil Sims.Superb team with lots of talent. Finishing with a 14-2 record that year wasnt to bad either. Typical of a Bill Parcels coached team ...who's a future Hall Of Famer im sure. Not sure what he's doing at the moment I think he's a GM for Miami or something if im correct. The Giants being a division rival certainly holds its level of resentment but none the less. Has left their mark on the history books with their resume of star caliber players and championship teams.

Well I'm a youngin and wasn't alive for or remember alot of the ole classic teams, but here's a few teams that I will always remember:

- First team I really remember. I remember sitting in my gram's living room as a little kid watching the Dallas-Steelers superbowl that year (I live in Steeler Nation). The next year I started playing football and wore #22, and then #21 cause of Emmitt and Dieon. That team was incredible with Aikman, Emmitt, and Irvin on offense (and Larry Allen), and had guys like Darren Woodson and Dexter Coakley on defense. Irvin is one of my all-time favorite players. They are the first time I really remember and kinda got me interested in football.

Greatest show on turf. Enough said. Dominant, filthy offense there for a few years. Loved watching them play. It was video game type of offense. Warner was awesome, Faulk was awesome, then Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce as WRs was just unfair on that turf. Plus Hakim in the slot. Just an awesome exciting team I remember well. Classic superbowl too, we all remember the tackle at the goal line.

I was a Cowboys fan as a little kid thanks to that awesome team with Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin, and Dieon... I was never really a Rams fan, but it was always one of the most exciting teams to watch. My father and brother are diehard Jets fans and I never really connected with them. When I was like 13 I became a fan of Atlanta for one reason:

The second they drafted him, I was like... I'm gonna root for this team from now on no matter what happens (and holy hell a ton has happened). Those early 2000's Atlanta teams were the first I ever really rooted for as a true fan. I still remember ole Ray Buchanan, Rod Coleman, Brooking, Kerney, Dunn, Duckett, Crumpler, and all their crap WRs unfortunately. Vick was just awesome. I know he is better now, and people think he sucked in Atlanta, but I watched those games and he hardly had anything around him and was awesome for them.

Thanks Dirty...I admire your passion for the sport and overall knowledge of the game. Great list of teams listed there. You know I remember the greatest show on turf making the highlight reels constantly for a healthy length of time. As a child I use to collect my favorite players football cards. I remember having a Marshall Faulk card. I was a big fan of his even when he was with the Colts. I didnt follow the sport to terribly close from about 98 to 05.( That was my late teens and early 20's stage... Not much overall recollection of anything worthy of mentioning on a sports thread) But I still kept up with the just of what was happening in the NFL. The Rams certainly a charismatic team in their day are worthy of elite team mentionioning. I certainly remember when Vick came out. I remember his days at Virginia Tech. I knew that kid was destined for stardom in the future. Personally I didnt know how he'd regather himself after his stay in Levenworth. Seems to be he's doing just fine with a trip to the playoff's in just his second year back. Very exciting to watch and as of now proof that some folks can make the best of a second chance. I wont debate the severity of his crime as I know the passion of animal lovers is unparalleled. Im a fan of his for what he does on the field and enjoy watching him any chance I get. An amazing talent and spectacular athlete. Im sure Vick will continue to make the top ten plays of the week club for years to come.

Yep, I loved Vick and still do. His prison stint should be a great example of exactly what our prisons aim to do - rehabilitate and make a criminal a better person post-prison. I've seen countless interviews and press confernces and I really do think he is a different man and made the most out of his situation. He put Atlanta in a bad spot when he got arrested, but I'm still thankful for all he did during his time in the ATL. He was really great even though he caught so much hate for not being a prototype passer. Glad to see him doing well again.
