I think he will be the best ever when all is said and done statistically, albeit thats not a given. Emmitt Smiths stat line is pretty ridiculous and he has the Championships to go with the stat line. If I had to say who was the best I ever saw play the game at running back it would be Payton. He ran past,over,through everything put in front of him, had hands like velcro and was the best blocking back the game will ever see bar none. AP has a little ways to go before he gets considered by me, but the guy is amazing to watch and has a big shot at breaking all the records.
