Default The FIFA scandal

Anyone into football or who watches the news knows of this. Now Ireland has been implicated (oh joy!) for taking "shut up money" over the last World Cup. So who has opinions on what should be done now, or ideas about what may happen? Blatter has stepped down but there won't be a replacement for at least another six months if not longer. In the meantime, what happens to the reputation of the world's governing body for football? What would you do, and what do you think of what's happened?

The reputation couldn't get any worse than it already was really. Everyone who is into football knew that they were rotten to the core.

The first thing that needs to be done is put an end to Qatar and have a re vote. I think Australia should have 2022, Japan/South Korea/The US have all hosted before and within recent times, the Aussies haven't had one and I think they'd do a really good job of it. Qatar bid for a summer World Cup and have failed to stick to it, so for that alone it should go to a re vote. That's before we even mention the slave labour.

Note: "So far", this is just after five years, we are still 7 years away and the death toll is predicted to surpass that of 9/11. It's just awful.

I still can't believe something is actually being done though.

Qatar ffs

So much this. Deplorable what's been going on over there. Not to mention you'll have players passing out from heat exhaustion during games.

The temperatures were originally an issue but there was talk of building all air conditioned stadiums so the players would have been fine, the fans would have melted outside the grounds though. They have moved it to winter now, which is another disgrace and totally unfair on the other bidders who could have kept to a summer schedule. Not to mention European leagues will be disrupted for years to accommodate a World Cup in December as our seasons run from August to May.

I read (no link, was a while back) about some of the working conditions, 48 hour shifts and people dropping dead, passports being taken off them so they can't leave and are trapped, work being stopped if temperatures exceed 41 degrees except temperature gauges are doctored so they don't exceed it. Obviously they are paid a pittance too.

It's just wrong on every level.

Should send that fat tub of **** to work there huh?

I hate that ****ing bastard! Did you see how he humiliated us just before the last World Cup, after the Henri incident? Now, yes, our FAI were lily-livered gob****es to go cap in hand asking such a stupid question, but **** it, did that fat **** have to laugh at us in public and let everyone in on it? Scumbag ****. I hope he's drawn into the scandals and spends time inside.

They're still a country? You learn something new everyday.

Come on: didn't you see where he basically said, at a news conference, "The Irish asked very politely if they could not be the 33rd team to go to the World Cup. Yeah (laugh) they really did". Fat ****ing tub of ****. FAI goes to him and floats the (admittedly ****ing stupid) possibility of "letting us go anyway" as a sort of backup team (no I don't know what the hell they were thinking either) and he "outs" us in public, for no other reason than to embarrass us. Scumbucket.

Also, I see on the news yesterday that he approached Trapp after the France game saying "Meet me, I have a way to make this be forgotten about." Yeah, five million ways. We are so ****ing thick.

Dude should be dragged out back and shot. The poster child for rich, powerful, and arrogant, at the expense of millions.
