why do football (soccer) supports all tend to be very angry, bitter and twisted individuals?

Do you think trying to get your head around a cerebral sport like cricket (preferably test) would calm you all down a bit...?

Calm, peaceful, quiet, boring, relaxing, sleep inducing...these are all words I would have accepted.

But "cerebral" is simply off limits.

Cricket seems to be going the way of football anyway, with big money, petulant players, match fixing, dodgy decisions, etc. So is rugby union, with the England team spending more time in night clubs than on the training pitch (especially during the world cup).

Anyway, I don't think anyone could call Lawro or Shearer bitter or twisted. Plus I like Hansen's gruff tetchiness. Say what you like, he knows his stuff ("You can't win anything with kids!"

) no but seriously he does, and I always find the banter (ahem) on MOTD and MOTD2 top-notch. Certainly less stuffy than cricket or, god save us, golf or tennis.

Di Matteo and Hughes gone: is this not a really bad time to be sacking managers, as we move into one of the most crucial periods of the season? Would anyone else consider this really bad timing?

I thought the Hughes sacking was poor timing, may as well have let him take one last shot against Manure. Thing is, if they're not convinced about a manager now is the last time to get rid and make sure he knows what kind of squad he has to work with so he can invest properly in January...the sacking season is on.

Benayoun, raaul miereles, torres. Liverpool to chelsea hasn't worked that well so far...

I predicted this to a guy I used to keep in touch with over e-mail, back when Mourinho left. He went into a little hissy fit and said it would never happen.
We argued and eventually stopped talking.

I wish I could see his smug Chelsea d/ckriding features now.

On a more relevant note, I'm sure Rafa will do a good job, which won't be enough for Chelsea higher ups and after winning the FA Cup will be dismissed for no apparent reason.
