£50m Kyle Walker :D
Lukaku £75m Paul Poggy Pogg £89m Sigurdsson £40m(tbc) Deeney £35m (rejected) John Stones £50m Pickford £35m The game has gone mad. |
imagine paying 30+ mil for a player who "looks like" he'll be great. paying that type of money for players like Stones and Pickford is mad. obv the Pogba sum is insane but at least he had established himself as a world class midfielder.
|
Pogba hasn't established himself as World Class. Obviously he's an amazing talent though.
Money is nothing in footy, find it hard to care about price tags. |
i'm hard pressed to think of a better midfielder in the prem. Kante, Eriken and De Bruyne are in the same class but that's about it.
Kante > De Bruyne/Pogba > Eriksen |
World class = get into any team in the world hence you are world class.
Obviously there's subjectivity but that's the best way to look at it. Teams like Barca and Bayern don't come in for players off the back of one good season which is why Rooney was never world class, Adebayor and Kevin Phillips before then. For example for me Alli and Kane aren't world class, both had back to back excellent seasons in the league, but have so far failed in Europe and for England. Gareth Bale would be though, has proved himself everywhere. As for money, I don't care as its not coming out of my pocket but the fees now are insane in England. |
Someone like Mbappe is an exception to the rule though as you cannot ignore that sort of productivity at his age. That is extremely rare. Or Neymar when he was in Brazil.

which team in the world would Pogba not slot into?

if it wasn't for the James Rodriguez loan he starts at Bayern too. |
Rooney was world class for about 8 years.
