Do they really believe that after decades of success the reds of Liverpool and Manchester have as a hard core base of fans, supporters from anywhere other than the city of their team?

About Everton football. I was surprise at your poor start to last season, especially after all the hard work done in the previous few. I was really expecting Everton to challenge for a top 4 place.
How do you rate your chances this time around? YSB

evi1gun 07-19-2011 03:45 PM

It's hard to say. Considering we had some good results against the better teams but defeats against the lesser teams. And far too many draws.
Who knows?
Not me.
All I would say, is 'Dont put Everton on your Football Coupon'.
They'll probably let you down.
As for Man Utd. I was laughing for weeks when they won the 19th.
Me, bitter?... Twisted? ....And proud!:p:

jackhammer 07-19-2011 06:16 PM

I am expecting zero from Villa this coming season. A new manager that the fans don't want and a shedload of players leaving that carried us through the season :(

Reo Coker
Freidel
Young
Downing
Carew (left on loan in January but not coming back)
Walker (on loan from Spurs and performed well)

Shay Given is a decent buy and the proposed move to N'Zogbia is not too shabby either but I do not expect much of a season at all.

evi1gun 07-20-2011 12:35 PM

More doom and gloom from one of the other 16 epl clubs. Money's ruining the game:soccer: :banghead:

Unknown Soldier 07-28-2011 02:11 PM

Sergio Aguero signs for City, surely they must win the title now;)

evi1gun 07-28-2011 02:47 PM

Hope they do. (and i'm a scouser) but I cant see it.

Most teams on the up usually narrowly miss out once or twice before becoming champions.
But there loyal diehard long suffering fans deserve it.
My top six would be as follows...
1. Man Utd
2. Man City
3. Arsenal
4. Chelsea
5. Everton
6. Tottenham
What's yours?

With that listing I can see you`re a Toffees fan! As much as I hate Man.Utd I`m certain they`ll win yet again. Man City are exactly like Chelsea were several years ago, it took a number of seasons of huge spending before they actually managed to bag the title.

1. Man.Utd
2. Man City
3. Chelsea
4. Arsenal
5. Tottenham
6. Liverpool

evi1gun 07-28-2011 03:39 PM

Correct I am a toffee.
Your top 6 is what I thought, but couldn't bring myself to type it!
I've a feeling Arsenal will do well especially if they get rid of that horrible little turd Ces.
Hope he spends the next 5 yrs sitting on a Barca bench.
I also think one of either Chelsea, L'pool or Spurs will have a tough season.
As for EFC, We''ll probably finish 7th-9th.
Who's your team?

Arsenal and a long suffering Arsenal fan. Every season we lose touch with the leaders due to our inability to defend properly and totally kill a match off. Cesc going to Barca its really in the balance, first team football with the Gunners or on the bench at Barca is the question here, I suppose it depends on how much he needs the extra money to be sitting on the bench in Catalunya:laughing:

evi1gun 07-28-2011 04:15 PM

Ha! I wouldn't say long-suffering!
Some gooners make me laugh the way they think it's there right to win a trophy every few years. :soccer:
It also makes me laugh when the 'so called' experts right Arsenel off every season.
If the turd leaves it could galvanise the team, Wiltshire is a brilliant player. I'd swap him for Rodwell any day!
My 1st game was Everton v arsenal at goodison about 1978. We won 2-0.
I remember the arsenal away fans singing 'scruffy tw*t' to us! Louder than any away fans I've heard

right-track 07-28-2011 04:36 PM

United
Chelsea
Liverpool
Man. Citeh
Arsenal
Spurs

Toss up between Liverpool and Chelsea for second spot.
Arsenal losing out to City for 3rd...just.
And I expect a good season from Spurs again. Dong better without Champions League fixtures.

Any team in the Big 4 (I know Man City have changed that concept) expects to win something every season and Arsenal are no exception to that rule. Sure Wiltshire is a good player but Cesc is a real leader from midfield and goals to boot as well.

Strangely enough, the first ever football match I ever went to see was Crystal Palace when they where in the top flight versus Everton!

evi1gun 07-28-2011 04:59 PM

:beer::beer:I bet Palace beat us!
Here's my new top 6....

1. Everton (champions)
2. Arse

Hey a true Wimbledon fan on here, are you from in SW19?

Bob the Bastard 07-29-2011 04:30 PM

If Premier league titles were won by gayness, it would be one hell of a title race between Chelsea and City, I think Chelsea might just edge it with City coming behind them.

Everton to win the league lol, i need his dealers number lol not in a gay way though!

With most people predicting Man.Utd for the title again, nobody has mentioned what could be an achilles heel in the goalkeeping position. Van Der Sar is going to be a hard act to follow and is De Gea up to it? I`m hoping he turns out to be as effective as his fellow Spaniard Almunia has been:rofl:

evi1gun 08-02-2011 02:37 PM

Just imagine Man Sitteh gettin Wesley 'right from under S.A.F's nose.
It's not like they cant afford it.
If they did, I think I might change my top 6. (My 1st one. The 2nd one was a joke obviously)
Everton just got beat 1-0 by Werder Bremen. Same old story. Started well but blunt up front. :banghead:

Sneer 08-02-2011 06:19 PM

Arsenal will finish in the top 4. The doom-mongers encircling pre-season are a ubiquitous facet of the Gooner experience, but we always manage to achieve Champions League football. Cesc SHOULD go, Nasri too if he isn't going to sign a new deal. Wilshere and Ramsey could develop into one hell of a pairing if given a chance - put Song in behind them and watch them go. As long as we invest in an experienced, preferably English CB to partner Vermaelen, and a replacement for Nasri if he leaves, we'll be OK.

jackhammer 08-02-2011 06:40 PM

Hate to say it as I don't like them much but Liverpool are really going to push hard this season. They have bought some genuinely decent players with experience, talent and also mostly British which will add steel.

I think Chelsea were in transition last year and they haven't added much and that transition will continue with their new manager. He has proved to be a good manager but it is far too soon for them to get back to the level of the Mourinho years.

Arsenal will always be there or there abouts but will never reach those heights of a few years back with a transfer policy that is quite simply baffling considering the finance they could draw upon.

Man City- no chance. A club that buys players for a season and then farms them out on loan the following season will never achieve a cohesive base. How many strikers have that team got through in the past 3 years? It's nearing double figures and that is no way to run a football team.

Spurs - I would so love this team to break the monopoly of the big 4 but finances restrict them. Thay have built a fantastic team but cannot take that next step into fantastic squad. Shame as 'arry is one decent guy and knows his football.

Man U - Some quality players brought in but that midfield creativity is missing. Scholes gone, Fletcher's ill health still cause for concern and Van Der Saar going still leaves unanswered questions. Top 2 for sure but not sure what position.

Villa - Hahaha. Top ten if we are lucky.

evi1gun 08-03-2011 01:04 PM

Stu. I agree with everything you said. This time last year, the topic on talkSPORT almost every day was about how Spurs are gonna be top 4 at Arsenals expense.
By about November it stopped!

Alec 08-06-2011 06:39 AM

First day of the season and I'm already ****ed off. We're 2-1 down to Bristol at half-time, COME ON YOU DONS.

EDIT: We brought it back to 2-2, piled on the pressure yet gave away a silly penalty in the last 10 minutes. 3-2 loss in Wimbledon's return to the Football League.

evi1gun 08-06-2011 01:07 PM

Unlucky Alec.
Our season hasn't even kicked off and i'm ****ed off!
We got beat at home on Friday by Villarreal 0-1.
It's not the result, it's the way we play, typical Everton; Start well, cant break through, end up playing long innacurate passes.
And how people rave on about Jack Rodwell astounds me.
He offers nothing going forward. Cant seem to pass forward. And when he passes sideways, he then runs behind one of there players and hides!
Anyway, rant over!
:banghead:

I have to completely disagree with you on this one. I think that Henderson (20 million) was a crazy signing, a hugely inflated price due to his Britishness. He doesn't offer much going forward and will struggle with the pressure and expectations from the demanding Liverpool fans. Charlie Adam was a star in a very poor team last year, the amount of hollywood balls he tries that end up in the stands is ridiculous. I expect him to be found out very early on next season. Downing had a decent season last year but I wouldn't consider him top 4 quality, while Andy Carroll is a one-dimensional player who it seems they have decided to build a team around. I'd predict Liverpool to finish seventh or sixth (even lower if Suarez gets injured). (I'm a Chelsea fan by the way ;) )

evi1gun 08-06-2011 03:37 PM

Agreed.
I think Liverpool and Spurs will struggle for a top 4 place.
Hope i'm right

I don`t think very much of the majority of signings that Liverpool have made either. In an attempt to buy British, they have paid inflated prices for average players who are very run-of-the mill Premiership players. I doubt they`ll even contend in any way for a top 4 position. It seems like Dalglish`s style of management concerning transfers is still entenched in the 80/90s when buying British was still viable.

Mojo 08-14-2011 07:21 AM

There is actually already an MB one but I didn't come here and start it up again this year.

Anyway, to add my 2 cents on Jordan Henderson, I think he's full of potential. He had a poor last couple of months of last season for us but prior to that he had played every minute of every game, looked vibrant and energetic, enthusiastic and contract to the opinion I just read here, offered alot going forward. He didn't bag many goals for us but he does have goals in him, and I can remember a few beautiful crosses. We were a better team with Henderson than we were without and up until February of last season I wanted to keep a hold of him more than I did Bent or anyone else.

He should be a good signing for Liverpool, but the price tag is ridiculous. That's for sure. He could be a fantastic player, he really could be. But you don't pay £20m for a prospect, you pay £20m for an established, dependable, Premiership quality player.

I have to be honest I've not really followed any football for a good year now that all changed today when I found out that Swindon hired Paulo Di Canio as manager a couple of months back.

This season just got a lot more interesting for me.

Di Canio ready to laugh in rival manager's face

Paolo Di Canio has taunted Crawley manager Steve Evans by insisting he will “laugh in his face”.

Swindon boss Di Canio goes head to head with Evans on Tuesday in a League Two clash.
The Crawley gaffer had previously branded Di Canio’s reign at Swindon as a “circus” following the Italian’s bust-up with striker Leon Clarke.

But Di Canio has snapped back and says he is not afraid of facing Evans, as he has played in front of the Italian Mafia.

“I’ve never heard his name but there are a million people in the world that don’t like me. He is one of many," said Di Canio.

“I don’t speak about him because I don’t know him, I’ve never heard his name. How can I speak about him?

"I will go there and do exactly the same job I do in the County Ground because I’m not worried about anybody.

“I’ve played in front of Mafia people. People like him make me laugh – I laugh in the face of them. I laughed in the face of 70,000 Manchester United fans when I scored.

“You could imagine what it would be like if I was worried by the words of him, who I’ve never heard of before.”

He might be a mental fascist loving Italian hothead, but I love the guy :D

I can see City taking 2nd place this year.

I agree that United will run away with it, they've been **** hot recently.

My Top 10 would be;

1. Man Utd
2. Man City
3. Chelsea
4. Arsenal
5. Liverpool
6. Tottenham
7. Aston Villa
8. Stoke
9. Everton
10. Newcastle

Who do you think will go down?

Bulldog 09-28-2011 03:48 AM

I hate to make predictions, as they always make me look a moron at by the end of the season, but;

1. Man U
2. Man City
3. Chelsea
4. Liverpool

Going down;

18. Blackburn
19. Norwich
20. Swansea

I doubt the relegation dogfight's gonna be as tight this season as well.
