I love it...does everything I need, tone-wise. Sooner or later (most likely later, since I can't afford it yet) I'll get a Mesa Road King, though.

I had one exactly like that minus the effects (delay, chorus, flange, and reverb). I agree with you 100% on your evaluation of it. I had mine for several years and it was definatly a great amp and did a very good job. One time, I did have to get it fixed (loose solder connection that caused it to buzz and crackle), but that was a fairly minor problem that didn't really lessen the view of the amp, in my opinion. At least it was worth fixing.

just picked up a series one 5150 and retubed it, all new power and preamp tubes. great, solid, always reliable head.

Dead Eternity 03-18-2006 08:11 AM

I blew out my last amp, and didn't have any money saved for a good one, so I just got like a twenty watt at Walmart, I'm so ashamed...

It works though, thats all that counts for me.

PeteWailes 03-22-2006 05:43 PM

120 watt laney MXD 120 - lovely amp...
However I'm changing to a GH100L sometime soon. Amazing amp.
For my acoustic needs I currently run a Marshall acoustic amp.

DarkMortar 04-05-2006 11:10 PM

Smart IIIs from Silvertone.

They're meh.

littleknowitall 04-25-2006 07:33 AM

i just found out i got a 16 yr old bank account with a nice chunk of change in there, moleys getting a new bass amp woo!, probably my mates 200 watt carlsbro, just been serviced too :) and at a good price.

scott7d 05-25-2006 05:25 AM

Im playing through a Single rectifier right now. I could have bought a used Triple for the same price, but I dont really think 150 watts would have been real practical. I would have had waaaay too much headroom. The single should be ok for a long while.

littleknowitall 05-25-2006 01:18 PM

bought the carlsbro £80 quid, best bloody deal i've ever made, i just need to find where i put the damn kettle lead and maybe install some wheels it's a bloody beast!!

swim 05-25-2006 01:27 PM

I have a nice bass but a 50 dollar 15 watt amp :(

i've been running it through guitar amps, i was a guitarist for so long and i couldn't sell any of my stuff so in my house it's been running through an orange 30 watt and in practice if it's not somewhere with an amp already for me it's been through my fender half stack, so i'm just finally glad i bought a decent bass amp that's good for gigs.

I use a guitar amp. My brother has a bass amp and doesnt play anymore. I'm gonna steal it once he goes to college, which is soon.

and what amp would that be dude?

swim 05-27-2006 06:22 AM

meh, it's just as crappy but I get 10 more watts, woot woot, I'll prolly just hook them together. It's a crate 25 watt, nothing special. I'm going to get a good bass and guitar amp with christmas and work money.

sounds cool, any idea's on what your gonna get? get a messaboogie, if your minted ofcourse. the sound you can get off those things is almost orgasmic.

swim 05-27-2006 06:34 AM

I'll probably just go into a music store play on about 10 and whatever I like and can afford I'll buy.

littleknowitall 05-27-2006 06:36 AM

there's a music store by me that's really cheap, problem is everythings stolen and it all breaks down after 3 months or so.

thebassistX 06-02-2006 09:48 AM

i got a nemesis 350w rack and a 200w speaker.

Guitar_man2140 07-03-2006 06:04 PM

i got a backstage amp wit 10 watts. then again it dont matter. im in a band and it works fine.

littleknowitall 07-05-2006 07:09 PM

a 10 watt amp competing with any drum kit would be far from fine, either you've got the wattage wrong or the band consists of you and your mum on tambourine.

razer1000 07-21-2006 05:15 PM

bass amp

i play bass, but my amp is an Ibanez 65w 12" single cabinet speaker.
