I love my AKG 240's but they are not great for recording with my condenser mic so I got a pair of ATH-M50's which sound great, but I still would rather listen to music on my AKG 240's. Still, having a pair for recording beats going through the audio in Audacity and muting the sections where it's picking up the noise from my headphones.

Home recording is an expensive process but I think I've finally gotten the hang of everything I need.

I got a pair of AKG 240's earlier in the week for home use and I'm quite happy with them. The sound is nice and clear and they have just the right amount of bass. I'm using my Sennheiser HD 519's for work as they are still the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn and the sound doesn't leak as much, so I won't be bugging those around me.

My 31+ year old AKGs. The logo on the headband is almost completely worn away.

Sennheiser HD 202s right now. They're alright, a bit old, but they were so cheap. As long as they're comfortable, relatively noise-canceling, and have good sound relay I don't think it's necessary to spend a boatload on headphones.

skullcandy - aviator

I know skullcandy isn't known for the sound quality, but the aviators are actually quite nice.

I've had a pair of ATH-M30s for about two and a half years now, and they've served me pretty well for the price I got them ($35-40, I think?). I don't have much in the way of a point of reference though, since I've never gotten the chance to really spend any time with higher end headphones. They get a little uncomfortable to wear after a while---they're not overly tight, but tight enough that my ears get a little sore after extended use.

Yeah I've noticed my MTH-M50's were a little uncomfortable after an hour or so of use, but either I've worn them in a little better or my ears have adapter and I don't notice it as much.

Just seconded duga's recommendation for the Sennheiser HD380 Pros in the monitor thread.

You need these in your life. Here's why.

I love my Sennheiser HD600's but they can get a tad uncomfortable after hours of use.
