why is this in the talk instruments forum?
anywho.. dont even think about being in a band yet. trust me, you arent ready. a band takes commitment and to be honest it takes skill, a lot of it. at least to be any good it does. so just keep learning, practice a whole hell of a lot....etc.. a good way of learning to play different styles is to play other bands songs. just turn your stereo way up or your amp way down, and play along with cd's that you like. http://mxtabs.net seems to have tabs for just about any band you could ever imagine. find a band you like, learn the tabs, and play along. once you get better, you'll start making stuff up, just putting chords together, stuff like that. thats how songs are written. dont force yourself to play another bands style, just play the stuff that comes to you. take my advice though. dont even think about trying to form a band until you have quite a bit of skill. its very very hard otherwise, and other musicians wont keep you in their band if you cant play. the better you get, the more musicians you will meet who are of your skill level, eventually it will come together.

My ego's like my stomach- it keeps shitting what I feed it. But maybe I don't want to finish anything anymore.. maybe I can wait in bed 'til she comes home. and whispers.... Quote:
