I'm not big on shredding, not that I don't admire players that can use speed to their advantage (like John Mcclaughlin) I just dislike players who play fast just for the sake of doing it, or more or less players who feel the urge to play every note as fast as they can just to impress, without considering how damn horrible it sounds, like Rusty Cooley.

I do like Steve Vai, who has the abillity to play really fast but remaining creative and melodic at the same time, at least when he chooses to be.

But I'd be damned if I didn't admit that shreders tend to have the coolest guitars.
