i play really hard fast metal, i've owned so many guitars and sold them all until i got my "god" guitar. my ESP M-II. speaking out of experience my taste is excellent, that what is so great about opinions

but yeah, 80's schecters did kick ass, whats the model they had that was cool...the only one they keep now...Avenger?

granted.
I hate floydd roses and emgs which were my major beefs but to each his own...i find them tone killers but if all you need is harmonic squeals and booming bass theyre great.

i havent had the pleasure of playing an old avenger
but i have PT which is fricken awesome

i keep the bass about 7.5 on my Engl for the black metal tone, the EMG's are great (81's) but my guitar has a variable booster system as well, so, AWESOME! lol

Right now its Carvin simply because all their guitars are custom built/ shipped direct, and Im a lefty, so their is no additional charge for them to build a left-handed version of any instrument they produce. That and the Quality/price ratio surpasses any company that's out there.

I actually find the bass to be a lot more boomy on my Fixed bridges than my tremolo guitars...

But yes, EMG's really aren't 'All that' when it comes to living up to reputation. In fact, I've found that I like the tone of the Ibanez V7 and V8 pickups a whole lot! Very defined without much booming bass.

You fail. Dean and Schecter are both American companies. ESP Is Japanese. Schecter and ESP are owned by the same person but are seperate companies, with Schecters custom shop being based in California, while ESPs is in Kyoto.

Both companies cheaper models are actually ghostbuilt by Cort, who currently produce the VAST majority of all guitars coming out of Korea, since they're Ghostbuilders for Ibanez, ESP, Schecter, G&L, and many MANY others. Read that thread. ESP Have made major ****ups on no less than 3 of that mans CUSTOM instruments that he paid thousands for. I've spoken to nileguy myself on occasion and he happens to be a luthier himself and REALLY knows his ****. The fact that HE was the dealer who filled out the custom quote form and that ESP still messed up his axes, is frankly shocking. He is no longer going to ESP for his custom builds, despite having a minor Endorsement with them last I checked.

I like Ibanez. It is the kind I use, and it has a really nice tone, and it doesnt hurt that it looks awesome!!!

Gibson! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gibson. I used to play with Fenders, but as soon as I played a Gibson, I couldn't go back. I still like Fenders...but it's just...I feel better with Gibson.

i have to make a quick comment on the EMG pickups. they might not be the 'be all end all' as some people claim but they DO provide a noticeably stronger signal when running through lots of effects as compared to regular passive pickups.

it wouldn't be something people running a multi effects unit would notice nearly as much and it still depends on the overall tone you're looking for but they're hardly bad pickups.
