I used to think this. Don't play games. Music is mobile, play something that is too. Trumpet, Guitar, Violin, Harmonica, Saxophone, Drums, whatever. Piano was great and I took lessons for about 6 years when it was all said and done, but I could never show up places and play. I couldn't plug in my keyboard on someones front porch and have fun. It was cool, and I understand the theory books fine, but music was never really about theory books.

Get something mobile. Best advice I could give. Just because 8 guys play guitar on your street, doesn't mean that you're useless.

Did someone change it to "singer/bassist". I swore I wrote singer/pianist.

i think you should start whatever musical instrument you see as being the most interesting. because with learning an instrument you must be horribly patient, and if you arnt playing the one you want to play the most... it is a lot easier to give up.

What I've learn is simple, for some people (like me) the learning process is more difficult, this is why I could never really master guitar. And thats way I took up bass, its just a much easier, more comfortable instrument for me.

Bass is guitar for the talentless.

Don't fret fellow bassists, I'm only joking.
