yea, if you've played on the model before and liked it then go for it but if you're just shooting blind you might not get what you wanted.

Never buy online. SHOP online...but go to a store to buy it. Not only can you get something that's not exactly what you want, but it can get pretty badly damaged in shipping.

If they have a no return policy DONT DO IT... i prefer going to the store because you can check out the guitar before you get it.. just to make sure there are no flaws and watnot.. this might not be true for drums n watnot

I get a good deal of stuff via Musician's Friend-- I've always had good luck with them...

Through them I've bought a 10-track recorder, all sorts of studio equipment, FX boxes, a couple drum machines, a nice Fender Strat...

I would never buy an acoustic online-- I'd be too picky...

I've bought some old synths via E-bay before, but I wasn't after anything special, just something to tinker with... But normally I'd be wary of buying INSTRUMENTS used online.

I'm going to Hijack this thread instead of creating a new one.....

I was thinking about getting that estaban guitar from the infomercials.....

Is that a wise choice?

right now I have this junior sized acoustic guitar that has a broken bridge I'm still in the process of teaching myself how to play

If that's not a good one, what do you recommend for a beginner to use?

Yes. I agreed that we have to be more careful when buying an acoustic item. Nevertheless, there are sometimes cheaper than you buy it from the shop. Maybe different country priced the item differently.
