Just start off with some simple three or four chord songs & strum a bit, sing along. It might seem boring at first but at least you can start getting a feel for it.

Once you can get a few simple songs under your belt that way, then you can start wandering out a bit more & experimenting...

Electric is easier to start with rather than acoustic, unless you like pain.
