Personally, I'm not sold on acrylic guitars. In theory they should sound great, but I've never heard a positive comment on acrylic body tones.

Your probably right. I think i probably seem to think it sounds better or whatnot mainly because it just looks so damn nice. And for me the show put on is almost as important as the music at a concert. Its all about the atmosphere and that guitar definitely contributes to a solid atmosphere.

Fender Jags:

really?
that purpose seems bizarre
as they have a sharp think tone....
not the warm roundness of a traditional jazz guitar

everyone i know who has one plays it through some kind of fuzz box
and plays either a bit of guitar in a synth based band or in an alt rock band

they were huge in the 90's with the grunge crowd.

THats true, but jazz tone is a strange beast. The warm thick tone you'd expect from jazz would SEEM to be found most often in Valve amps, would it not?

And yet, look at most professional jazz rigs, and the amplification is solid state...Strange.

that is quite strange\ more of a modern phenomenon i think

First Post!

Hiya,

My first post here. Music is my main passion, tragically the talent isn`t always proportional to the passion.

Anyway, i`m a classic sort of person - last year i splashed out on an American Strat and when funds allow a Jazz Bass, and Gibson Les Paul will follow (honey sunburst pls!)

the Jags:

strange guitars tho to say the least. i've heard they're pretty bad tone wise until you get a handle on the electronics because its so funky

Dont get down on yourself about it. Talent is completely opinion based, and differs to each persons ear.

many of the "most talented" musicians ever couldnt stand there own work.

I agree, playing music is good for the soul, whatever stage you`re at.

I have a great quote from Slash, printed way back in 1992, regarding learning the guitar...
"A lot of people feel like they have to reach a certain point, and that point is always hanging over their head. They`re always trying to reach it, but its a lot more difficult. Wherever i was, was fine. I just kept working hard at it..."

Not sure if he was saying it to just sound cool, but it`s a very insightful thought regards learning and playing music.

Does anyone know what those short necked guitars are called? They make some really good sound. And steel guitars, too, I like them.

I guess this could be considered a favorite guitars post. If I need to talk about **** I got, I like my guitar, the "Squier" Fender. I like it, makes some alright sound, though I haven't heard it in forever. Kinda heavy/gritty sounding, I think. =/
