e ----
b ----
g ----
d ----
a ----
E ----

these are your 6 strings, tab is constructed by using 6 lines to represent 6 strings.
your thick string being the bottom E and your thin string being the top e.

adding numbers in on particular strings dictates as to what fret your finger should be on.

E.g

e ---------------------5-8
b -----------------5-8
g -------------5-7
d ---------5-7
a -----5-7
E -5-8----

There's an A minor pentatonic scale, follow it across and play it in that way, begin on the 5th fret of the bottom E, play the note, then the seventh and then onto the A string and so on

symbols like this, /, h, s, etc. can mean differnet things.

/ and s mean slide, which means simply to slide your finger up the fret board from the note behind the symbol to the note after it e.g 5--/--7---

p means pull off which means to pluck a note and then release that note onto a corrosponding note without plucking a second time.
h means hammer on which is to do the reverse, to pluck one note and then to 'hammer on' a second note further up the fret board without plucking it.

and there are many more but that should do.
