People posting things in the wrong places could be one explanation.

I'm sorry but I just pissed myself.

GuitarBizarre 03-18-2009 01:19 PM

I was referring to the Talk Instruments forum in particular. kthx?

adidasss 03-18-2009 01:24 PM

^ You forgot to promote signatunes.

GuitarBizarre 03-18-2009 01:25 PM

It only adds them if I go to the advanced mode. If I use the quickreply it doesn't add em.

Are they paying you much?

GuitarBizarre 03-18-2009 01:31 PM

Nothing at all in fact, the foxytunes addon for firefox does it automatically. But hey, thanks for asking. Do you think I should ask them for some monetary compensation due to the fact their product has a cool feature I like using?

I'd prefer if they paid me instead.

Me too. But I have an overall dislike for gigantic signatures in general.

GuitarBizarre 03-18-2009 01:44 PM

Feel free to put me on ignore if you find it that irritating. Its not on most of my posts anyway as long as I'm not quoting.

And at least when I'm writing messages and it adds more than one song I trim it down to just the first one. I'm sure you'd hate to see something like this at the bottom of every post:

I'm sure I'd ask the mods to do something about it. ;)

You could always put your last.fm chart in your sig, which is less annoying and doesn't feel like you're promoting, but I guess you'd have to sacrifice your supercool signature.

It's not that irritating. It's just sort of irritating. I've never understood the point of huge signatures, they just make threads harder to read.

I think the last.fm charts are annoying too.

More posts in this thread in 1 day, than in the whole of 'Tlk instruments' for a whole week. I class that as a reasonable success.

Hardly. Pretty much none of the posts in here have been about instruments.

PinkCigarette 03-18-2009 03:03 PM

I played the kazoo in grade 6.

Pretty lame "instrument".

fixed for you

PinkCigarette 03-18-2009 03:27 PM

A kazoo can be fun when you do what you want with it and make annoying sounds to piss people off but it's crap when you're boring teacher makes you do boring things with it.

What boring things can you possibly do with a kazoo?

PinkCigarette 03-18-2009 03:35 PM

Play those crappy songs they make you play in school.

Pfft, I'd rather make up my own music.

i'll try to help, but I am only one man. I need other competent bloggers to help me rid the net of the chaf. You guys are doing a great job!!

mr dave 03-18-2009 06:10 PM

i think this subforum is slowing down because most of the threads devolve into this kind of back and forth BS that has little (if anything) to do with actually playing instruments. i'd much rather log in to find 1 post about the tools used to make music instead of 20 gripes about stylistic differences or personal preferences.

this subforum is the reason i joined this site in the first place. busy or not, i'll give just as much advice to someone with 3 posts who won't do anything besides check their one thread as i will to someone with 1000 who's deciding to try their hand at playing music on top of listening to it.

heck i'd like to see a sticky thread at the top of this forum specifically for buying new instruments. it would make the subforum even more 'dead' but should keep it more on topic.

Trey 05-19-2009 05:40 AM

I think it's kinda funny when people argue and all. It's great fun just to see the battle of wits in the comfort of my own home. It's inevitable and as long as it's here I for one am going to find enjoyment out of it. For example this post I am typing right now may very well piss someone off for some unknown reasons and I will be amused by it. Dance monkey dance. Nah but really talkin' instruments is the same reason I came on here as well and I'd really like for it to pick up. That and cause I'm new and I...well actually that had nothin' to do with anything. ok well there it is. pounce

No, I don't think you'll get anyone mad, it's boring around here, it's about as boring as an Ernest Anastasio guitar solo.

exactly, it's slow and it's good that way. this thread initially came up after a period of activity that would have been better suited for the lounge and i just happened to be in a less than pleasant mood when i pretty much killed this thread.

it's one thing to go off on a tangent, like when a guitar recommendation thread turns into a brand discussion. it's another thing when buckethead vs. MAB vs. some lesser known ultra quality guitarist breaks out in every other thread.

guitars will be the most common topic of discussion but this subforum isn't specifically about guitars.

Yeah, this forum needs more flute expertise so that I can get some helpful tips!
