What gear do you most desire?

Myself, I would have to go with perhaps a fret-less 5 or 6 from Thor Bass.
A nice Spector or Warwick 5 would be nice too.
I'd also like to keep a nice Fender Jazz 4 around, possibly fret-less.
Played through a nice old-school Sunn Coliseum Amplifier, or maybe an original '71 Davies SVT. But in for the sake of fantasy, lets just say both.
Run them through a nice couple of aluminum 8x10s from Hartke. Keep a couple 15s for the low end.
I've also thought about building a Leslie-style box speaker for bass amps, but if not, for a Moog Phantom Foot Organ.

Anybody else?
Not limited strictly to bass.

the only piece of gear i'm really wanting right now is an Electro-Harmonix bass micro synth.

it retails for about $450 with taxes, but it sounds SO ****ING AWESOME. EHX.com | Bass Micro Synthesizer - Analog Microsynth | Electro-Harmonix

I would love an Orange Bass Head/Cabinet

Other than that, my bass I have right now is awesome

Antonio 03-28-2009 05:04 PM

a Bass amp, preferably 60 watts and up for my band's shows

plus i could use it for bass and guitar

Shoot.. what do I want?
This is entirely un-realistic, but I want a Harpsichord SO badly.

But for something more realistic, I want a decent drum set with a double bass, and I need a bass.. Abducting my guitar teacher's doesn't work so well when he's moving to New York.
I also really want an electric guitar that works correctly, because my neck is screwed up at the top. (even after vigorous attempts at fixing it.)

I think that's it. For now.

A harpsichord, huh? That's a first. I don't they're that hard to come across, are they?

DMBassDude 03-31-2009 08:48 PM

Meh, not unless you just happen to be in an orchestra LOL

It's entirely un-realistic if your a 14 year old unemployed teenager.
:(

ElephantSack 03-31-2009 08:51 PM

patience my good boy (?). all good things in time.

Nation 03-31-2009 08:53 PM

Girl.
And I've seen loads of them (my mother has an obsession with the symphony orchestra in milwaukee), but I'm not so good at the patience thing.... Oh well. Maybe I can see if someone at the local college has one...

mr dave 04-01-2009 03:05 AM

patience is all well and good but lusting for an instrument that generally costs more than most people's first new car is rough. good luck, never say never, you never know when opportunity will knock.

as for my personal unfeasible wishlist (getting a EHX microsynth isn't really out of reach, just never top of the list). someday though i'd really like to get my hands on a bass clarinet. a vibraphone would be super cool too hehe

Oh, my bad. haha
But hey! There's always E-Bay, like a mother****er! I know, I know.. unemployed teen. I'm just trying to lift your spirits a bit and maybe make up for the gender confusion thing.... okay, awkward, but enjoy those unemployed teen years while they last. I'd kill all kinds of babies to have that sort of free time again!

Nation 04-01-2009 06:11 PM

I'm gonna try and enjoy it.
And I found out that my sister's music theory professor has a Harpsichord in his office and that if I begged enough I could get him to let me play it.
(MWHWHWHWHWHWHWHWHWHWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!)
*cough cough* ahem.

LMAO dude then just buy it from him! if he never plays it, of course.
I've learned these wise rules for purchasing an instrument:
-always test it by trying to completely destroy it
-make shure it's worth the crapload of cash you're asbout to give the nice person(or guitar center)
- always trade in your sh*tty instrument. more cash :)

No such luck.
He uses it to teach lessons.
But I can still play it. (AND I don't have to waste any time learning to play it. It's set up like a piano/organ. CHA!)

i really wasn't exaggerating when i said a harpsichord generally sells for as much as a new car. :p:

the cheapest one i've seen for sale online was $15 000, average was about $20 000.

Hmmm.. Here's one for 300 dollars OBO.
Harpsichord for sale - $300 or best offer (Photos)

Although already sold, and not in the best condition, I wouldn't suspect I'd let anything go for that cheap if I actually paid 20K for it.

mr dave 04-02-2009 05:42 PM

yeah but if there's one thing i've learned is that when someone says 'needs work' upfront in a classified ad they really mean 'this thing is ultra busted' heheh

mr dave 04-02-2009 06:48 PM

The tone sucked and the buzz was really f*ckin it up.

mr dave 04-03-2009 03:54 AM

Doesn't vox have a bass guitar with a synth built in? I know they have a guitar with that feature.

LMAO all i do is filter it as a lower extremely bass-y octave. same with the Boss octave.so i have one low that ends up two octaves below the first, making a neat sound effect. It's not a bad pedal in it's self either. It's like a moog :thumb:

Farfisa 04-05-2009 06:31 PM

I really want an electric-acoustic... think I might get a Alvarez AF-60CK.

http://www.davesguitar.com/product/AF60CK.JPG

Or a Luna Henna Paradise w/ a spruce top

http://www.celticrenaissancemusic.co.../LunaHenna.jpg

Ahhh, I can't decide!

nice hehe

i remember trying it once way a few years ago and found it moogalicious haha. i've already got an octaver that sometimes finds its way into the bass chain.

imdesigner 04-06-2009 06:31 PM

Oh god, don't get me started on wishlists. I've been meaning to upgrade my gear for awhile now but always end up buying stupid **** instead, mostly music (got a record player for Christmas, been buying a lot of that). I have a second job now so I'm really gonna save from now on for new gear.

I would love to get Strat, Classic Series 50's model would be nice. I would need new pickups though....

I also want one of those BK Butler Tube Drivers, a man can dream....

6(Sic)6 04-08-2009 04:40 PM

i don't have a wich list it's more of a wish book series of eight volumes

DMBassDude 04-11-2009 04:35 PM

this is my updated wishlist:

http://www.singnplay.com/images/Dean/EdgeHammer.jpg
a Dean Edge Hammer 5. sweet price and a good bass in general.
http://www.atomicmusiconline.com/ima...d/IMG_8554.jpg
a blue beard distortion pedal. that wraps it up, i guess.
