yes, it's entirely possible. you just need some self-discipline and patience.
like GB i only had one lesson (from my uncle as opposed to father). a basic chord book is enough to get started. i learned through guitar world magazine, but now with the wealth of information available online i wouldn't invest nearly as much money into those.
tablature is easy to find online, and easy to read as well. it really depends on the style of music you want to play though. are you hoping to learn proper classical pieces? or is it just the only guitar that you have available to learn on?
if you're actually looking to play proper classical guitar you'll probably want to try to find a teacher at some point, or at least someone who can provide single lessons as there are a lot of tricks with classical finger picking.
