Default In between a violin and a cello

I've played the Viola for 12 years.. I used to play for other people, but now I play for myself. Could have gone to college for it.. opted for History

you should start with the acoustic first - it's easier to hear stuff

and ya know what they say "if it doesn't sound good on acoustic, it'll be shite on electric"

Acoustics can be a real killer on your fingers though. And it's harder to learn things like string bending and high notes on them.

In my opinion, being able to play an acoustic guitar can make you a more well-rounded guitarist. I think it's better to learn guitar on an acoustic because you will build up more strength in your fretting hand than you would on an electric. Just my experience.

Hmm, fair enough. My fretting arm is strong enough anyway (leftie) so I probably wouldn't have to worry about it as much, but then again, I did learn partially on an acoustic.

string bending - not really, unless you have nylon strings

high notes - no also - if you get an acoustic with a longer neck and goes to 14 frets

Get an acoustic with a cutaway. You can reach the high notes more easily.
